POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold a minimum of a bachelors degree in Human Services-related field.
Must have work experience with individuals with multiple disabilities.
Must complete Orientation and Mobility Class within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
Must provide recent documentation of sign language proficiency interview (SLPI) or take a sign language proficiency interview (SLPI) available through AIDB.Survival Plus must be obtained within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
Intermediate must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
Must possess a valid Alabama drivers License and obtain and Commercial Drivers License within the first twelve (12) months of employment. Applicants must be able to be insured by the AIDB insurance carrier.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Sign language proficiency level of Intermediate, as assessed by the SLPI provided by AIDB.
Certification in Orientation and Mobility.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Locate and/or develop appropriate and meaningful on-campus work experiences for HKS students ages 14 and older.
Develop, implement and supervise students during on-campus work experiences.
Locate and secure appropriate off-campus work experiences for HKS students ages 16 and older.
Schedule and assign job coaches to directly monitor work experience students both on and off-campus. The established schedule must be approved by the Academic Director prior to implementation.
Assume responsibility for initial direct training of students at job sites and monitor student progress closely.
Arrange transportation for students to and from the job site.
Maintain regular contact with the job site supervisor, following up with the necessary corrective actions or training to ensure student success.
Obtain employer evaluations on a monthly basis. Submit written evaluation forms to the Academic Director.
Collaborate with the IEP team on transition goals and objectives for each student in the work experience program.
Collaborate with the Transition Coordinator on an effective budget and work experience payroll to be submitted to the Academic Director.
Collaborate with Vocational Rehabilitation and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, as well as other outside agencies needed to ens re student success.
Market the HKS Work Experience Program.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Director.
Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
