Principal Responsibilities:

The Mandell JCC is proudly announcing a new initiative with Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and Sunrise Association. This new program, Sunrise on Wheels, a fun and exciting hospital program that engages children with cancer in pediatric playrooms, chemotherapy units and in-patient areas by way of toys, games, crafts and fun. We are looking for a Program Coordinator to lead this effort to bring back the joys of childhood to children with cancer and their siblings. This part-time position will oversee the program and volunteers while working side by side with hospital staff as well as the Sunrise Association. Responsibilities Engage/play with children of all ages in a hospital environment. Create and oversee a volunteer team. Communicate with hospital staff (Child Life Specialists). Makes sure the play area is safe for all who are participating in the program. Assess quality of toys, games, supplies used in the program. Ensure HIPAA guidelines (privacy of patients) are being followed. Hand in written summary of each session to your Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

We are looking for an energetic, caring individual who wants to be part of a dynamic group of people whose common vision is to bring smiles and a feeling of normalcy to children with cancer and their siblings.

Minimum qualifications are as follows:

18+ years of age. Able to work independently and collaboratively. Well organized. Strong communication skills. Able to hire and supervise volunteers. Able to work with children of all ages. Feel comfortable in a hospital environment. Able to commit for long term with consistency. Must be up to date on all vaccines including Covid-19 boosters as per hospital and Association guidelines.

Job Type:

Part time, 5-10 hours per week.

Pay:

$20-22 per hour

Schedule:

Thursday afternoons in the hospital, which the expectation that this program will grow.

Salary:

Under $25,000
