Job Summary:
The Camp Enrichment staff’s primary focus will be to perform a variety of tasks in a summer enrichment program, including academic tutoring, STEM. science, recreation activities such as arts and crafts, sports, and games. The program is designed for children ages 5-13. This role requires internal collaboration with Learn To Thrive leadership as well as representing Learn To Thrive Education to parents and children with a high degree of professionalism.
Role & Responsibilities:
Oversees the daily group activities Lead groups of up to 20 students through curriculum-guided activities Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Follow and enforces enrichment program procedures and policies Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Learn To Thrive Education Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies. Adequately prepare for each learning session by gathering and organizing materials reading the curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions. Handle inquiries from parents regarding Learn To Thrive programs Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Learn To Thrive enrichment programs Participate in periodic Learn To Thrive training & staff meetings. Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of recreational equipment and teach students the principles, techniques, and safety procedures for each activity. Performs other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Enthusiastic and positive attitude. Excellent communication skills. Ability to learn and enforce the program’s safety and operating rules. Must attend staff meetings and orientation during the summer season.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience of at least 2 years working with children is highly preferred. Criminal and Child Clearances (Level II Background Screening) must be current. 2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment. Educational degree or teaching experience preferred.
NOTE:
Teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Proven ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements:
Able to participate in games, sports, and physical activities, including water-based games and activities. Able to maintain attention and a high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time. Must be able to spend the majority of the time being active indoors and outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather conditions.
Program:
This position is part-time. Instructors typically work between 20-25 hours per week.
