Independent Study Program Facilitator Position Available In Indian River, Florida

Independent Study Program Facilitator Crossover Mission, Inc. 4425 Us Highway 1, Vero Beach, FL 32967 OBJECTIVE The Independent Study Program Facilitator will be responsible for directing the daily operations of the Independent Study Program while instructing and managing students in the program. Duties will include keeping track of students’ school progress through Florida Virtual School (FLVS), assisting with school work, maintaining daily school schedule, parent relations, discipline and reporting and volunteer support. This position reports to the Program Manager.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Teacher – Middle School through High School level, preferred Experience with teaching and mentoring youth who are at risk of dropping out, performing below grade level, behaviorally challenging, struggling with IEP’s or have attention issues and/or trauma. Ability to motivate and relate to students needing alternative education. Strong organizational and administrative skills, be self-motivated and have the ability to multitask with limited guidance or supervision. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with all people, especially youth and parents who may be under-resources. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey a vision of Crossover Mission’s strategic future to parents, volunteers and donors. Technical ability and experience with school database especially School District of Indian River County, grade books, Google Suite (especially Excel), Windows 365 and Salesforce preferred. A strong work ethic and a friendly demeanor.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, organize, coordinate, and provide direct oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Independent Study Program. Serve as the primary instructor of 10-15 students in all courses while managing a rotating schedule of supporting volunteers for the program. Provide leadership, advice and insight to management in the development of program goals, schedules, activities, growth Lead chaperone for retreats and outings. Occasionally drive 15-passenger van for student outings. Prepare for daily academic sessions by getting materials ready or setting up equipment/computers. Academic reporting. Developing and generating weekly/quarterly/ semester/annual grade reports. Create opportunities for social and emotional growth. Manage Parent Relations & Involvement. Attend staff meetings and present to the Board of Directors and funders, as needed. Manage the communication of outcomes to Fundraising and Development Team. Manage student food and snack breaks. Perform other related duties as needed.
