5050 Position Vacancy Announcement Florida A&M University College of Agriculture and Food Sciences is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Extension Agent I vacancy. Responsibilities Partners and collaborates with agents, agencies, nonprofit and other organizations and the public to meet the educational needs of local residents; Provide expertise and serve as a resource in urban agriculture and farm production systems; Determines program needs by monitoring trends and issues; Implement educational programs which strengthen small farms, communities, families and individuals, including youth; and utilizes various media effectively to inform clientele of program activities through effective promotion and marketing practices and tools. Uses appropriate technologies to plan and deliver educational programs through workshops, seminars, conferences, media, one-on-one visits, field trips, tours and other methods; Maintains knowledge of current research information in one of the specialty areas; Uses computer applications appropriate to the subject-matter being delivered and the collecting of data for reporting purposes; Develops and implements evaluation plans for key programs; Reports impact outcomes to clientele, public, administrators and other key stakeholders; Maintains and fosters relationships with the public and key stakeholders; Identifies and attracts resources to support the delivery of programming; Assumes other assignments and responsibilities in support of the total Extension Program; Makes individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions; Assumes regular travel throughout the state, and occasionally at a regional and national level; Assume other assignments and responsibilities in support of the total Extension Program; Programming will be conducted in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity policies and procedures; and this position may require some evening and weekend work inherent to Extension program delivery. Minimum Qualifications All applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas: Agriculture, Agribusiness, Horticulture or Plant Science, Agronomy, Adult Education, Education, or a relevant discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred. Recommended Competencies Utilize various media effectively to inform clientele of program activities through effective promotion and marketing practices and tools; Use appropriate technologies to plan and deliver educational programs through workshops, seminars, conferences, media, one-on-one visits, field trips, tours and other methods; Use computer applications appropriate to the subject-matter being delivered, collecting of data for reporting purposes and development of educational/outreach information; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers; Experience in developing positive interactions with the public; and, Experience in planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating educational programs. Pay Plan This is a Faculty position. Conditions of Employment Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. Time limited positions are funded by a contract or grant, auxiliaries and local funds having a defined expiration date.
