Program Manager – CARE Unconquered Scholars Florida State University – 4.3 Tallahassee, FL Job Details Full-time $50,000 – $54,223 a year 7 hours ago Qualifications Mid-level High school diploma or GED Bachelor’s degree 4 years Full Job Description Department Center for Academic Retention & Enhancement Responsibilities The Program Manager for the Unconquered Scholars Program and NextGenNoles Program provides engagement and programmatic efforts intended to improve the recruitment, admissions, engagement, retention, and graduation of student populations including: foster care alumni, students experiencing homelessness, wards of the state, and students with dependents. Responsible for managing programmatic funds, providing academic support, coordinating engagement activities, and supervision of part-time staff, graduate assistants, and interns. Facilitates meetings with students, campus-based support services, community agencies and others, and communicates program services to internal and external University constituents through representation with community agencies. Provides counseling services to program students. Manages the provision of counseling and college life coaching services to Unconquered Scholars and NextGenNoles participants on issues affecting retention, campus engagement, and personal development. Conducts assessments on which to formulate intervention plans to minimize and/or resolve problems that impede overall wellbeing and student success. Builds trusting relationships with targeted student populations through personalized, constructive, engaging, motivating, and informative sessions on a weekly or biweekly basis. Meets bi-weekly with Unconquered Scholars first-year students to enhance cohesion as a retention tool. Conducts pre-graduation assessment and intervention programming for junior and senior participants to improve life after graduation outcomes, as needed based on programmatic research. In conjunction with departmental leadership, ensures operations of Unconquered Scholars and NextGenNoles Programs are in full compliance with department, university, and grant sponsor policies, donor gift agreements, and all other applicable state and federal regulations and requirements. Manages the design and implementation of academic and engagement programming for both programs to improve retention and graduation. Serves as primary point of contact at FSU for foster youth and homeless college students, as mandated by the State of Florida. Researches, prepares, and communicates responses to inquiries related to the program. In conjunction with departmental and university leadership, assists with the development, implementation, assessment, and management of services to recruit and retain students from this at-risk population to achieve the goals and priorities outlined in the University Strategic Plan related to foster youth and homeless college students. Assists with the management of issues related to attrition, financial aid, academic support services, and outreach programs on departmental and university committees as they relate to these populations. Communicates program services and maintains high level of contact with program participants and internal/external University constituents to improve student repetition and graduation outcomes. Completes departmental reports to ensure program compliance and effectiveness with University, department, State of Florida Department Children and Families standards. Gathers and analyzes student success data, including student participation, academic achievement, academic support center usage, and financial aid information. Prepares quarterly and annual reports for department, division, and grant agencies pertaining to the Unconquered Scholars Program and NextGenNoles. Coordinates Unconquered Scholars Program student advisory board. Serves on committees responsible for planning and implementing CARE events and activities. Serves on CARE Summer Bridge Program admissions application review committee. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience related to academic and/or student services; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience related to academic and/or student services.
