Purpose and Impact:

The Education and Life Skills Manager will work collaboratively with the residential program team and other community-based and youth-serving organizations and partners to support a shared vision to see every resident excel in their educational, vocational, and life skills abilities and goals. This is a non-direct care position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

: Collaborate with youth-serving organizations, community-based partners, and child welfare agencies to promote a shared vision to help students graduate with purpose with a college, career, and life plan that leads to success Oversee program content design and delivery, including curriculum development and scheduling; and ensure consistent, timely, and relevant programs, workshops, webinars, activities, and support are offered to residents Develop a comprehensive plan and proactive approach to support student education, independence, and well-being Refine, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs with data-informed decision-making, making modifications where needed to ensure continuous improvement Strengthen program quality through people, processes, and outcomes Provide strategic planning, design, and implementation of life readiness resources and educational services Actively assess and evaluate programs using key performance indicators and measurements Conduct research as needed to stay up to date on current issues in education Serve as an advocate and spokesperson on behalf of the program with partner agencies, stakeholders, parents, family, and the community at large Serve as an educational liaison for residents; ensure participation in school/IEP staffings and advocate for, and represent our youth for their needed educational supports, services, and resources Coach, train, and mentor life skills and activity coordinators to promote positive interaction and motivation of our youth to meet individual educational and life skills goals Oversee the fiscal management of direct program services and grant reporting Performs other duties as may be assigned relevant to this program function

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

: Ability to remain in a stationary position (e.g., seated or standing) for extended periods while conducting meetings, administrative tasks, or program planning. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment (e.g., printer, copier, calculator). Ability to move about the facility and off-site program areas to supervise staff, observe educational activities, and interact with youth. Occasionally required to lift and carry educational materials, program supplies, or small equipment up to 25 pounds. Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in person and via phone, video conferencing, or written formats. Visual and auditory ability to monitor youth, assess learning environments, and ensure safety during program activities. May occasionally need to climb stairs or walk moderate distances across shelter grounds or between partner agency locations. EDUCATION

: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

: Must have a minimum of three years of experience working in educational/life skills programs for at-risk youth; previous child welfare experience a plus.

SKILLS :

Must possess demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities, be able to develop and monitor contracts, be able to work effectively with others, be a collaborative team player, present self well in public, be an effective communicator, and function well with minimal supervision, well-versed in learning theories, relevant training in de-escalation techniques and Trauma Based Relational Therapy; budgeting and service coordination experience a must. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish a plus.

Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

: Reports to Executive Director. Team player with co-workers, LSF staff, local, regional, and state agencies. Cost effective preparation and management of assigned program budgets. Adherence to all licensing and quality assurance standards. Accurate and timely submission of required programmatic and statistical reports. Effective staff management and leadership.
