The Florida Literacy Coalition (FLC) promotes, supports and advocates for the effective delivery of quality adult education, literacy, ESOL and family literacy services in the state of Florida. This position is a key team member responsible for coordinating and managing FLC’s award winning health and financial literacy initiatives.
Duties include:
1) Manage health literacy and financial literacy mini-grants programs, including the mini- grant application, review and distribution process. 2) Collect and synthesize data reported on the mini- grants, including pre and post health and financial literacy assessments. Draft related foundation grant reports. 3) Organize periodic meetings/conference calls among FLC and grant recipients. 4) Coordinate the health literacy and financial literacy section of FLC’s website and the development of supplemental materials, such as health literacy lesson plans and activities. 5) Coordinate and offer occasional health literacy and financial literacy workshops and professional development opportunities and provide staff support for the Florida Literacy Conference. 6) Manage the distribution of “Staying Healthy” materials. 7) Create occasional health and financial literacy content for social media postings and contribute articles to state newsletter. 8) Help identify potential partners, funders and opportunities to expand these programs and educate people about health and financial literacy. 9) Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualified candidates should hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Two years if experience in health services/communications, public health education, adult education and/or financial education preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and problem-solving abilities required, with project or grants management and event planning experience preferred.
