Under the supervision of the Program Director, Empower to Employ (ETE), the Program Coordinator is responsible for co-development and delivery of all ETE instructional services. The ETE program provides an opportunity for non-degree seeking students with intellectual disabilities to experience college life in an inclusive setting with the purpose of developing employment skills and earning the Empower to Employ Certificate of Completion. The Program Coordinator leads a collaborative team, focused on successfully recruiting, onboarding, teaching, mentoring, and graduating program participants. The Program Coordinator will supervise Program Instructors, Academic Peer Mentors, and Social Mentors. The Program Coordinator will lead the Person-Centered Planning Team and help students set goals for transitions, monitor and assess their progress, and modify plans as needed in collaboration with staff.
Examples of Duties Essential Functions/Duties:
Manages student recruitment, admissions, orientation, and enrollment processes.
Hires, trains, manages, and evaluates Academic Peer Mentors.
Collects and reports data regarding student demographics, learning outcomes, and employment outcomes.
Leads the Students Transitioning to Adult Roles (STAR) Planning Process Team. Advises students, develops schedules, and assists with registration.
Coordinates with the Office of Disability Services to secure students’ accommodations.
Serves as liaison for Faculty Classroom Partners and assists with the development of personalized rubrics.
Secures SAP reports and instructor feedback forms at the end of term. Assists with the development and management of the department budget.
Secures mentor and mentee end of term reports.
Provides support to program staff.
Collaborates with Program Director and Program Instructors on curriculum development and classroom instruction.
Coordinates with Program Coordinator, ETE Employment to provide student career coaching.
Conducts outreach to graduates to provide ongoing consultation and gather grant required data as needed.
Supports partnerships with local businesses and the development of internships and job placement opportunities for students/graduates.
Instructs or co-instructs EMP core classes.
Supports compliance with students’ 50% inclusive environment requirements.
Connects students to the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation to support their postsecondary goals and workforce success.
Assists the Director with recruiting and supporting the Faculty Advisory Board, Faculty Ambassadors, and Faculty Inclusive Classroom Partners. Assists the Director with program marketing and communications. Typical Qualifications Required Skills Knowledge of principles and practices of professional training and development program design. Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional method theory, and practical applications. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of contacts of considerable importance within, and outside of, the college. Contacts outside the college where lack of tact or judgment may result in negative college relations to a limited degree. Ability to work independently with the responsibility for planning details and methods to obtain definite objectives and to make decisions within broad limitations of policy and professional standards. Ability to work cooperatively with college personnel. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Working Conditions/Additional Information Normal office working conditions. Attendance at seminars and conferences is required. Salary and Benefits Information This position is a level P14. Other employee-paid, voluntary benefits (vision, short-term disability, etc.) are also available. Required Education Bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Student Education or related field.
Teaching certification in ESE (K-12). Required Experience Three years’ experience working with students with intellectual disabilities or teaching in an ESE environment.
One year supervision of personnel.
Demonstrated excellence in program and curriculum development and data analysis required.
Four years’ experience teaching students with intellectual disabilities.
Experience in a postsecondary transition program. Working knowledge of the Florida College System. Preferred Experience One year of college or university teaching preferred.
