The Council on Aging of Volusia County is seeking a dedicated and organized Nutrition Coordinator to coordinate the daily operations of our dining site and Meals on Wheels (MOW) program . This role is essential in ensuring our seniors receive nutritious meals and quality service.

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 2:00

PM Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Meal Coordination & Oversight:

Accurately order weekly congregate meals to minimize overages. Oversee and assist with meal packaging alongside volunteers. Step in as a meal delivery driver when no staff or volunteers are available.

Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate records , including monitoring forms, rosters, logs, and volunteer paperwork. Ensure compliance with the Older Americans Act goals related to meals served and donations collected. Schedule and oversee Meals on Wheels and kitchen volunteers for smooth daily operations. Initiate and maintain community outreach efforts to recruit volunteers.

Program & Community Engagement:

Distribute monthly nutrition education materials to congregate and MOW clients. Ensure safe food handling and sanitation in compliance with Florida regulations. Conduct biannual dining site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and health standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

✔ Experience in food and nutrition services and familiarity with industry practices. ✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and the public. ✔ Ability to represent COA professionally with integrity and a passion for serving seniors. ✔ Proficiency in Microsoft programs and general computer use. ✔ Ability to meet productivity standards and maintain punctual, reliable attendance. ✔ Must be able to lift 15-20 pounds as part of job duties.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required, plus one year of related experience/training (or equivalent education and experience). ServSafe Florida Food Handler Certification (must obtain within the first 3 months of employment). Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and appropriate insurance coverage required.
