POSITION SUMMARY

The District Band Program Facilitator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality marching band instruction across CCPS schools. This includes teaching marching techniques, overseeing rehearsals, assisting with show design, and mentoring student musicians to foster musical excellence and discipline. The District Band Program Facilitator will collaborate with band directors and school administrators to ensure a cohesive and dynamic marching band program that enhances student learning and community engagement. The District Band Program Facilitator is responsible for developing and overseeing a vertically aligned marching band program across the district’s feeder pattern, encompassing elementary, middle, and high schools. This position supports program cohesion, student progression, and instructional excellence in music education, ensuring a unified vision and pathway for student musicians at all levels. This position reports to the Director of Fine Arts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with band directors to design and implement marching band shows, including music selection and choreography. Assists in the development of instructional materials and resources for marching band activities. Supports the integration of technology in marching band instruction, such as drill design software. Teaches and reinforces marching fundamentals, drill execution, and music performance. Conducts sectional and full ensemble rehearsals, focusing on precision, musicality, and showmanship. Provides individualized feedback to students to improve performance skills.
Coordinates logistics for performances, including scheduling, transportation, and equipment management. Ensures student readiness for performances through organized rehearsals and evaluations. Attends and provides support during performances, competitions, and community events.
Mentors student leaders, such as drum majors and section leaders, to develop leadership. Works closely with band directors, music educators, and school staff to align marching band activities with curricular goals.
Engages with parents and the community to promote marching band program.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of marching band instruction required.
GaPSC certification at Level 4 or higher in a fine arts area required. Valid Driver’s license required.
Requires inter-division coordination; makes decisions and recommendations which affect the assigned division, but at times affects others outside of the assigned division.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance; occasionally requires contact with officials at higher levels. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Responsible for multiple functions of instructional supervision with a high-level accountability for effective operation and results.
Applies, recommends, and implements technology concepts to improve the effectiveness of instruction and pedagogy.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office setting and classrooms (modeling, informal observations; coaching teachers; etc.).
Requires frequent travel to off-site training locations and school site visits.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

Light duty – On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, walking, or stooping.
Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.

NOTE:

This is a grade 28, 225 day position that pays up to a Step 8.
