Job Summary
The Social Justice Youth Summer Camp at Albany State University is a dynamic, immersive program designed for middle and high school students in grades 8 through 12. This camp provides an engaging environment where young people can explore critical issues related to social justice, human rights, and civics. The program not only aims to inspire the next generation of change-makers by fostering understanding, empathy, and activism around pressing societal issues, but also offers an invaluable opportunity for young people to develop a deep understanding of social justice, human rights, and civics. This program will also help participants recognize their power to make a difference, providing them with the skills and knowledge to engage in meaningful social change for years to come. Participants will gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become informed and responsible citizens who can contribute to creating positive change in their communities and the world at large.
Camp Objectives:
Engage Youth in
Social Justice Issues:
Introduce campers to key topics in social justice, including racial and gender equality, economic justice, environmental justice, and more.
Develop Critical Thinking:
Equip students with the analytical tools necessary to understand the historical and contemporary context of human rights struggles, allowing them to critically assess societal structures and policies.
Promote Civic Engagement:
Encourage active participation in civic duties and social change through discussions, workshops, and community-based projects.
Empower Youth to
Take Action:
Inspire and teach youth how to apply the knowledge they gain by creating and advocating for social change through activism, community organizing, and leadership.
The dates of this camp are from June 23, 2025 to July 23, 2025.

Responsibilities
Program Coordinator
Assist the Program Director with all aspects of the summer camp.
Serve as a point of contact for all campers and the parents/guardians for all their concerns.
Coordinate the guest speakers/ lecturers and assist them with all their needs.
Document the daily actives for the final reports and assist with any logistical concerns during the program.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Education, Program Management or related field.
Program Counselor
Provide emotional and behavioral support to the student.
Assist with any behavioral support to the camp staff.
Work with the camp staff to document daily activities and incidents.
Promote a positive and supportive camp culture that encourages respect and teamwork.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/ GED, prefer some college.
Logistics Coordinator
Coordinate all travel appointments, securing transportation for the program participants.
Assist with all logistical aspects of the camp, including location setups, resource allocation and communicating to all venders or service providers.
Resolve all logistical challenges and adapt plans as needed to ensure a smoother operating camp.
Qualifications
Associate¿s degree or equivalent experience in logistics, event planning or related field.
Prior experience in logistics coordination or event management.
Program Assistant
Supervise the students during the daily activities to ensure safety and adherence to program rules.
Assist with the preparation of the materials and resources for the daily activities.
Provide support during the camp sessions and field trips.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/ GED, prefer some college.
Prior experience working with youth or in a supervisory role.
Administrative Assistant
Assist the Program Manager with administrative tasks, including organizing and maintaining documents and records.
Assist with obtaining the necessary forms, permission slips and other program documents.
Provide general office support including but not limited to preparing reports or presentations, filing, coping, maintain office supplies and ensure proper recordkeeping of the program activities and student participation.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/ GED, prefer some college.
Prior experience in an administrative role.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong Organizational Skills.
Experience working with educational programs or camps.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently win a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with parents/ guardians and managing family communication.
