Job Description The Program Coordinator plans and executes signature outreach events and community engagement initiatives that highlight Gwinnett County’s diversity and promotes civic participation, including cultural celebrations and public outreach events. This position serves as a liaison between the County and community stakeholders, fostering partnerships with local organizations, schools, and cultural groups to expand the reach and impact of county programs and services. A successful candidate collaborates across departments to develop and implement outreach programs. Essential Duties
Coordinates and oversees all logistics for events and programs, including site visits, contract negotiations, vendor communications, equipment setup, transportation, catering, décor, marketing materials, troubleshooting, managing on-site production, and ensuring positive experiences for all participants and partners.
Leads pre-event meetings.
Recruits and engages community participants—particularly youth and families—through targeted outreach and sustained relationship-building with schools, nonprofits, and culturally diverse groups.
Develops and maintains outreach program schedules, timelines, and detailed implementation plans while supervising day-to-day operations and team assignments.
Collaborates across Gwinnett County Government departments, offices, and affiliated programs to identify target audiences, craft promotional strategies, and create culturally responsive outreach materials.
Utilizes technology and digital tools to expand access to county services and improve communication with residents and community partners.
Promotes equity and inclusion by designing and implementing outreach strategies that engage traditionally underrepresented communities, including individuals with limited English proficiency.
Tracks program outcomes and prepares reports detailing participation, engagement metrics, and emerging community needs to guide future outreach strategy.
Public Speaking Duties
Leads public presentations and introductions at outreach events, cultural celebrations, and county programs to engage diverse audiences and communicate key messages.
Facilitates community meetings, workshops, and tours by delivering clear, informative overviews of Gwinnett County services, programs, and civic engagement opportunities.
Represents the Department of Communications and Gwinnett County Government at community events, acting as a spokesperson to foster public trust and promote participation in county initiatives.
Other Job Requirements/Information This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade
The grade for this position is a grade 101. Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, public administration education, social work, event management, hospitality, business, or related field AND
Two years’ experience working with citizens, volunteers and/or youth groups
