The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Cyber Outreach Coordinator (Grant Funded) on the Dahlonega campus. This full-time (1.0) position will report to the Deputy Director of the University of North Georgia Institute for Cyber Operations and work with the Director and other staff to implement portions of the DoD (Department of Defense) Cyber Institute Grant focused on increasing the Institute’s military and civilian DoD cyber workforce pipeline efforts. This position is grant funded under a multi-year DoD grant.
Coordinate and monitor a range of activities related to the focus areas of the DoD Cyber Institute grant, including but not limited to outreach programs to develop the cyber workforce pipeline, experiential learning opportunities for current students to develop knowledge and skills related to careers in cyber, and professional/continuing education opportunities in the region. Working with the six Senior Military Colleges to build competency and skills in DoD cyber workforce competencies, and performing additional duties as needed.
Coordinate outreach activities such as conferences, competitions, presentations, career fairs and events (in coordination with Career Services, PROs and appropriate offices), K-12 school visits and other events to raise awareness of available programs and resources.
Build and maintain relationships with schools and educators to provide curriculum support, facilitate educational programs, and engage middle and high school students in cybersecurity initiatives.
Develop, implement, and promote cybersecurity and computer science experiential programs tailored to middle and high school students, including but not limited to workshops, competitions, school visits, and demonstrations.
Build and maintain relationships with local partners, including internship and job placement contacts at the state government, defense industrial base (DIB) partners including defense contractors, and state and local industry partners, to facilitate student experiential learning and internships.
Work with the Deputy Director to identify target communities and key partners, including but not limited to federal and state employers, local cyber industry partners, Georgia public school districts, educational organizations, and community groups, and coordinate the Cyber Advisory Board events.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and sometimes competing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to lead through collaborative decision making.ability to create and manage documents, databases, and spreadsheets in Word, Access, and Excel.
Knowledge of cyber operations and/or cybersecurity fundamentals.
Apply critical thinking skills throughout planning and implementation of educational initiatives.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with diverse individuals in a professional setting and with all members of the university community, including students.
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a cybersecurity, education, or technical discipline. Ten years of middle/high school education experience required. Experience with cybersecurity and/or computer science education programs (including K-12, collegiate and/or training) required.
Applicants must be a current US Citizen in order to qualify for this position.
Doctorate preferred.
Three years of program coordination, coaching, and/or project coordination experience preferred.
