Part-time Program Coordinator 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars Danielsville, GA 30633 JOB SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to work with the Program Operations Manager to coordinate the planning and implementation of recreational programs, special events, attend meetings, assist in certain divisions within the department, and to supervise staff and activities at assigned locations. This position reports to the Program Operations Manager of the recreation department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversee/assist with the development of program activities, classes, special events; to include reserving/securing facilities, hiring and supervising instructors, staff, and/or volunteers, providing information and direction as needed, and managing programs in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Assist with the planning and execution of the Summer Day Camp program.
- Prepare reports and other documents such as operating, activity, and statistical reports, and promotional material.
- Work with department supervisors to assist in the implementation of various adult programming (adult sports, fitness classes, etc.).
- Maintain inventory of program supplies ensuring availability of adequate supplies to complete work activities.
- Communicate with department staff, volunteer associations, the public, and other individuals and organizations as needed to coordinate work activities, exchange information, or resolve problems.
- Maintain current knowledge and awareness of new leisure programs, procedures, trends and advances in the profession; read professional literature; maintain professional affiliations; participate in continuing education activities; attend meetings, workshops and seminars as applicable.
- Confer with the Program Operations Manager to keep him/her informed of key issues and progress toward goals and objectives, and to garner or ensure continued support and approval for strategic initiatives.
- Operate a computer or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
- Accept, receive, and/or collect payments for registrations, facility rentals, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in recreation or similar experience preferred but not required.
Special Qualifications:
Valid Georgia Driver’s License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as required by department. Certification in First Aid and CPR is recommended (or that ability to obtain within 6 months of employment). Drug screen and background check required.

- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; working effectively, compassionately and creatively with youth ages 5 through 18, and adults ages 18 and up.
- Knowledge and application of county and department policies, procedures, and equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to use hands, arms, talk or hear. Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Tasks require the ability to exert physical effort in light work and also involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of up to 50 pounds. This position may require the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials to perform assigned tasks. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and field work to ensure compliance with departmental programs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The successful candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days, nights, weekends, and some holidays in support of county programs and events. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as heat/cold, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, hazardous materials, unsafe structures, heights, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, animal/wildlife attacks, or animal/human bites.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position will supervise assigned personnel for participants of all ages. This person must have the ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments as well as the ability to supervise other employees/contractors in completing a wide range of tasks; to maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
