Job Description

Summer Camp Instructor Open Arms Community Center Slidell, LA 70458 Overview We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Day Camp Instructors and Supervisors to join our team for an exciting summer camp experience. As a camp staff member, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for campers. You will be responsible for leading activities, managing camper behavior, and ensuring that each child has a memorable experience. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with children and have skills in various areas such as tutoring, sports coaching, and the arts. Qualifications Minimum 21 years of age Ability to communicate and work with a variety of ages and skill levels Ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere Ability to work under pressure in a sometimes loud and disruptive environment Minimum three years experience working with children Involvement in a Christian church or ministry preferred Instructional experience in any of the following or similar areas a plus (archery, arts & crafts, computer, cooking, life skills, music, nature exploration, stage productions, physical education, puppeteering, robotics, science). Certification in first aid or CPR is a plus. Duties Work with the Program Director to create and implement program activities Work with a team to lead program participants in various activities while maintaining safety, discipline, and engagement Respond to the needs of program participants in a firm, but loving way Know and follow program policies and procedures Be an example to and guide camp counselors and program participants in proper behavior, character, respect for and treatment of others and of property, and following program policies and procedures Work with the Program Director to train and supervise camp counselors Additional duties as assigned Join us this summer as we create unforgettable memories for our campers!
