GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Program Director will lead and manage a comprehensive, integrated program that provides both DCF-supervised visitation services and specialized day programming for young parents. This dual-focus role oversees the Young Parent Program (YPP), a year-round, full-time initiative aimed at reducing young parents’ reliance on public benefits by supporting meaningful outcomes across three critical domains: Education and Career, Life and Personal Development, and Parenting and Family. The Program Director is responsible for ensuring that all services are delivered in a trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive manner, with an emphasis on promoting safe family reunification, strengthening parenting capacity, and improving the overall well-being of young parents and their children. This leadership role includes oversight of daily operations, staff supervision, compliance with state and contractual requirements, data and outcome tracking, and active collaboration with DCF, community partners, and other key stakeholders to ensure high-quality, client-centered service delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Supervised Visitation Coordination Coordinate and schedule DCF-supervised family visits, ensuring appropriate staff assignments. Maintain and update the Virtual Gateway system to track all visits. Serve as the main contact for families, staff, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and smooth logistics. Address inquiries and resolve scheduling or visit-related issues promptly. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all visit documentation. Monitor visit quality and provide feedback to visitation staff. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. Resolve conflicts or challenges that arise during visits. Young Parent Day Program Oversight Lead participant recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts. Track attendance and manage monthly billing in line with contract requirements. Maintain regular communication with the DTA Contract Manager and ensure contract compliance. Represent the program in required meetings (provider, case management, learning labs, etc.). Oversee day programming that supports young parents’ personal, educational, and family goals. Promote economic mobility through education, job readiness, and training opportunities. Support parents in building social networks, accessing benefits, and developing advocacy and parenting skills. Connect families with resources to foster long-term self-sufficiency and resilience. Collaborate with Case Managers and Fiscal staff to ensure smooth program operations. Supervise, evaluate, and support program staff across roles. Provide staff development and coaching to build skills and performance. Foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on diversity, equity, and staff retention.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is strongly preferred. Minimum of two years of program management experience, ideally within DCF-supported programs, family services, or a similar human services setting. Proven experience working with young parents, supervised visitation services, and families involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Background in program coordination, social services, or customer service is preferred. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with diverse populations and community partners. Compassionate, empathetic, and attuned to the needs and challenges faced by families and young parents. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision. Maintains a high standard of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all aspects of work. Proficient in the use of Virtual Gateway or similar case management and documentation systems. Experience in staff supervision, budget oversight, and program performance evaluation is a plus.

PREPARATION, SKILLS & TRAININGS REQUIRED

Required trainings may include CPR/First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care/Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) or similar behavior management training, Protective Intervention Training, Medication Administration, Orientation, Policy Review, HIPAA, OSHA, Human Rights, Safe Driving, Emergency Incident Management, Workplace Violence, Anti-Harassment, Ethics and Boundaries, and other related trainings offered by Centerboard, Inc. Attendance at Centerboard’s multicultural awareness orientation is required, and participation in an affinity group or ongoing multicultural awareness training is mandatory. All employees must attend refresher trainings as needed to maintain certification compliance and demonstrate continued competency in required skills. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of an EEC background check are required. Required skills include the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate professionally and effectively, adapt to a changing environment, and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
