Rate External New Staff:
$18.54 per hour
External Experienced Staff:
$21.00 per hour Leeds Elementary School is seeking Part-Time staff to join the “Late Bird” After School Program for students in Grades K-5!
Start Date:
August 26, 2025 – New Staff orientation The Late Bird Afterschool Program runs September 2nd through the 2025-2026 school year. Must be available at least 3 days per week from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. (additional hours possible) Seeking staff to join our “Late Bird” after school program at Leeds Elementary School. Our staff are responsible for leading games, art projects, and activities with the children, monitoring the safety of all students in the program, cleaning and organizing supplies, etc. We work with our staff to find your interests, and help you develop and lead activities that you enjoy!
About the program:
The “Late Bird” program offers extended day childcare to our Leeds Elementary School students. The program provides quality, affordable childcare services with enrichment opportunities and runs daily from 2:10pm through 5:15pm. The program aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children feel engaged, supported, and connected. Our staff are proactive and model positive communication. We believe that ample physical and mental activity options, creative outlets, group games, and unstructured play time are key to building a positive after school community, and that enrichment opportunities and social emotional work support intellectual growth. We prioritize building relationships with individual students and caregivers, and we take a restorative approach to conflict resolution.
Job Functions :
Arrive on time (2:00 p.m.) to check students into our program at school dismissal time Lead activities for groups of students, and monitor students’ safety at all times Model positive behavior and communication skills Be responsive to students’ needs and interests, using proactive activity planning, problem solving, and conflict resolution Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or Equivalent Reliability and punctuality Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time Participate in regular staff meetings and/or up to 10 hours of staff trainings out of regular work hours Become certified in CPR and 1st Aid Hiring requirements include fingerprinting and CORI background check
Preferred :
At least 1 college level course in Child Development and/or at least 3-6 months experience working with elementary school aged children After School Program staff and/or Summer Camp counselor experience Ability to plan and facilitate group games and activities with groups of 8-12 children, and/or assist/collaborate with other staff for larger groups Interest in Restorative Practices, conflict resolution, Mindfulness, Gratitude Practices, working outdoors all seasons with kids, social justice, theater/art/music, sports, Coding/Robotics, and/or other STEAM activities High energy, initiative, proactive problem-solving, self-direction, flexibility, and adaptability
