Youth Conflict Resolution Program Coordinator The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health 41 Garrison Road, Brookline, MA 02445 Metropolitan Mediation Services, a program of The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health – Brookline, MA 02445 Youth Conflict Resolution Program Coordinator Metropolitan Mediation Services (MMS) is a community mediation program providing, since 1986, conflict resolution services, primarily mediation, for a variety of community conflicts or disputes, including court/legal, neighborhood, consumer, housing, family, and prisoner re-entry. MMS is a program of the Brookline Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (BCMHC), a leading provider of mental health care and social services for adults and children with a national reputation for creating innovative programs that address long-standing problems for both the individual and the community. MMS services are provided in large part by community volunteers. MMS conducts mediator training and other conflict resolution education programs and operates an exceptional program in which newly trained mediators are extensively mentored by experienced senior mediators. Position Summary MMS is seeking an individual experienced working with youth and familiar with conflict resolution practices, training, and programing such as peer mediation or restorative justice. The person in this role will have an exciting opportunity with MMS Director and staff to support exploring new agency partnerships and help create and implement youth conflict resolution training and programing. A number of partnerships might be formed with schools or other youth service agencies or programs. Responsibilities (including, but are not limited to the following) Conduct research and outreach to explore and discuss alternative potential partnerships and programing. Help organize and conduct conflict resolution training with MMS staff assistance, such as peer mediation and/or restorative justice practices. Coordinate post-training conflict resolution activities conducted by youth such as peer mediation or restorative justice processes. Maintain program relationships with partner agencies/schools/programs. Conduct data collection, and reporting to MMS Director to support reporting to funders, partners, and contracting agencies Collaborate in design and implementation of youth program evaluation activities Participate in informational meetings with MMS community, funders, and others to make known the accomplishments of the youth conflict resolution program. Qualifications High level of commitment to youth conflict resolution. Highly motivated to take initiative to form and implement this new program. Previous experience, training, or education in conflict resolution principles and practices, especially as it pertains to youth. Sensitivity and patience with diverse youth and diverse partner agency staff and/or faculty. or other languages spoken in Boston area youths is strongly preferred. Familiarity with the Greater Boston schools and human services / social services agencies and networks is a plus. Hours/Benefits This is a full-time 40-hour a week position.
