STRIVE U

is a 2 year post-secondary program for young adults with intellectual disabilities. We serve people aged 18-26 in our 24-hour residential program. Throughout the 2 years, students learn independent living skills with the goal of living as independently as possible in their own apartment upon graduation. Start date is July 28th.

is currently seeking a full-time Life Skills Training Coordinator. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the successful day-to-day academic and life skills training process through establishing a healthy, safe, and fun learning and living environment. Additionally, you will display competency in developing, modifying, and teaching

STRIVE U

residential curriculum in accordance with a “hands-on” approach to special education. The Life Skills Training Coordinator teaches independent living and social skills curriculum in learning group at SMCC twice a week and works with staff and students to develop tools to teach life skills outside of the classroom in a 1:1 setting. These skills include tasks like cleaning, cooking, budgeting, nutrition, menu planning, laundry, and more. This position requires an undergraduate degree in special education, teaching, or a related field. This position is considered a key member of the

leadership team, and will be part of the on-call rotation. As such, schedule must be flexible as some evenings and weekends are required.

Requirements:

Two years of college and relevant experience, or an undergraduate degree in special education, teaching, or a related field preferred. 1 year of experience in either teaching or training preferred. A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable vehicle, valid inspection sticker, and insurance.
