JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Aquatics Coordinator, you will play a vital role in managing the waterfront activities at the 4-H Camp and Learning Centers in Bryant Pond, Maine. You will oversee waterfront operations, lifeguard during swim times, create and manage lifeguard schedules, and lead waterfront orientations to ensure safety and compliance with risk management policies. In this role, you will plan lessons, lead activities, and mentor campers, providing them with opportunities to learn and explore the outdoors through engaging and meaningful experiences. You will also fulfill the DHHS-mandated role of Aquatics Director, provide basic first aid as needed, and contribute to the camp community through shared responsibilities. You will be based at the Blueberry Cove 4-H Learning Center in Tenants Harbor, Maine. You would be working with the Leadership team and camp counselors to ensure a fun and safe environment at summer camp. Full-Time, Temporary (June to August). $500 a week, for up to 10 weeks.
You would work a full summer schedule from June 8th, 2025 to August 15th, 2025. You will reside on-site with campers throughout the season, with structured time off each week.

Responsibilities:

You assist the Director team with waterfront operations and management.
You lifeguard during swim times for each group every day.
You create lifeguard schedules and provide or assist lifeguards with in-service training.
You supervise campers and ensure that safety and risk management policies are followed.
You host waterfront orientations for camper groups.
You plan lessons, lead activities, mentor campers, and provide opportunities for them to learn and explore the outdoors through high-quality experiences.
You perform camp chores that benefit the greater community.
You attend staff meetings and debriefs as scheduled.
You fulfill the DHHS-mandated role of Aquatics Director.
You provide basic first aid as needed.
You live in cabins and supervise campers.
You perform additional duties as assigned or reassigned based on camp needs.

Qualifications:

Required:

You need a High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
You need to have these current certifications or have held these certifications in the past and are willing to obtain them again. Camp may be able to provide certification

Waterfront Lifeguard CPR and First Aid Preferred:

You are 21 years of age or older
You hold a higher additional certification that is specific to the water like: Watercraft Safety
You have experience in summer camp setting
You have a genuine motivation to work with children in a vibrant, high-energy outdoor setting where every day is an adventure.
You demonstrate responsible and safe decision-making skills, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all campers during outdoor programming
You have the ability to lead groups in various outdoor environments, comfortably carrying a small backpack filled with teaching supplies and a first aid kit to support your activities.
