Position Summary:
The Boone County Speech-Language Program Coordinator will lead the implementation of an innovative pilot project that provides telehealth speech therapy to children in Boone County foster care. Funded by the Boone County Children’s Services Strategic Innovation Opportunity Fund, this initiative is designed to deliver timely, trauma-informed speech-language services and equip caregivers and professionals with tools to support children’s communication development and educational success. This is grant-funded position at 0.75 FTE (30 hours per week ) (hourly, non-exempt), with flexibility to adjust hours based on candidate availability and program needs. Continuation beyond the pilot year is dependent on future funding.

Is passionate about supporting youth in foster care and values equitable access to educational and healthcare services. Has strong project management and communication skills. Is experienced in working with multi-disciplinary teams, educators, and healthcare providers. Understands the intersection of trauma, child development, and speech-language needs. Is comfortable with data systems and technology platforms necessary for remote coordination and telehealth delivery.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Implementation Coordinate all aspects of the telehealth speech-language pilot project. Work closely with Empat Speech, University of Missouri partners, CASA staff, school partners, foster families, and the Family Support Team (FST) to identify and screen children. Schedule screenings, assessments, and therapy services with provider. Organize and facilitate two community resource/screening fairs. Monitor service delivery and follow up on progress tracking and documentation. Training & Community Engagement Coordinate training sessions for CASA volunteers, educators, and FST members. Serve as liaison between HOM CASA, Empat Speech, Mizzou Academy, and other partners. Support development and distribution of educational resources for caregivers and professionals. Data Management & Evaluation Track child referrals, service delivery, and progress toward goals. Collect and report on program evaluation metrics, including family and teacher feedback. Ensure timely and accurate data entry and documentation. Assist with sustainability planning and explore additional funding opportunities. Other Duties Attend relevant meetings and trainings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, child development, speech-language pathology, or a related field. At least 2 years’ experience in program coordination, child advocacy, or work with vulnerable youth populations. Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and child welfare systems. Experience collaborating with school districts or educational agencies to coordinate student services (e.g., through an IEP or support plans) preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, track data, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data tracking systems, and basic reporting tools. Must pass background checks and have reliable transportation.
Work Environment:
Hybrid:
primarily remote due to limited office space, with some in-office work, community events, and remote coordination with partners.
