in their own homes throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area. We have been doing this for over 50 years with the goal of adding 50+ more in our sight. Speaking of goals, CDD offers incentives based on meeting agency-wide goals as well as differentials for homes that are behavioral, high medical needs, and for shifts that occur on Saturday and Sunday.

Overview:

The Program Specialist plays a vital role in overseeing service delivery within our Day Program and Nonresidential Services. This position is responsible for ensuring that all services meet agency, state, and CARF accreditation standards. The Program Specialist will supervise staff, coordinate individualized support plans, and manage physical facility operations to maintain a comfortable and safe habilitative environment for individuals served.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Management :

Implement and monitor individualized services based on Person-Centered Plans (PCP) principles, ensuring compliance and ongoing progress tracking.

Documentation & Compliance :

Ensure that Individual Support Plans (ISP) and related documentation are accurately maintained and completed timely; oversee medical and other documentation related to client care.

Staff Supervision & Development :

Supervise, train, and evaluate staff performance; ensure adherence to agency policies and facilitate ongoing professional development to maintain a skilled team.

Medical Coordination :

Schedule medical appointments for individuals, ensuring proper documentation is completed and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Communication & Collaboration :

Act as a liaison between individuals, families, staff, and external service coordination entities to advocate for the needs and desires of the clients.

Qualifications:
Internal Candidates:
Non-Degreed :

High school diploma with two years of experience as a Residential Specialist.

Degreed :

Bachelor’s degree in education, rehabilitation, or a related field with a minimum of one year of supervisory experience.

External Candidates:

Bachelor’s degree in education, rehabilitation, or related social/behavioral science field with at least two years of supervisory experience in a similar setting. Strong understanding of the needs and challenges of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Competencies Required:

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and function as part of a team. Proficiency in using computer systems and software relevant to the role. Ability to pass training courses in medication administration, First Aid, and CPR.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a residential program environment, requiring frequent interaction with individuals supported by our services. Exposure to various environmental factors such as noise and human elements (e.g., blood, urine) will occur.

Position Type:

Full-time with core working hours typically from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for evening and weekend work as required. Travel throughout the metropolitan area may be necessary.
