Our holistic, evidence-based model offers a wide range of services – therapy, case management, yoga, behavioral health and substance use recovery groups, spiritual care, life skills, medical care, education, and job readiness. Each participant is formally supported by our Care Team for a full year, ensuring stability and long-term success. Now operating in Missouri, South Carolina, and Virginia, Concordance is a national leader in compassionate, innovative reentry care.
Position Overview:
The Peer Support Specialist works alongside participants, serving as a trusted advisor and mentor. In this role, you will support participants as they transition to post-release programming, help participants navigate daily schedules, and provide trauma-informed encouragement and motivation in daily interactions. Key responsibilities your role will involve.
Providing supportive care to participants:
Ensuring a caring welcome for participants during their first day at the Center for post-release programming and orienting them to the program Facilitating morning and afternoon circle, substance use recovery groups, 12-step education, and overall wellness activities Managing nutrition program during mealtimes and breaks Assisting participants with appointments in the community, as needed Promoting a positive atmosphere, sense of community, cleanliness, and respect at the Center Leading by example for participants to learn professionalism and prosocial behaviors Other duties or projects as needed Communicating with multi-disciplinary care team: Documenting participant interactions in electronic record system Communicating participant needs to the care team and Center Coordinator Working collaboratively with the Case Manager, Career Coach, and Therapist assigned to each participant, providing input on progress to ensure consistency in instruction/learning pre-to-post release and alignment with participants’ goals Participating in internal meetings and contributing thoughts or ideas to enhance quality or programming offered The right candidate will come with the following attributes, education, experience and meet the physical demands. Personal Attributes Passion for Concordance’s mission Energy for multi-disciplinary, team environment Excellent interpersonal skills as evidenced by compassion, energy, and ability to build rapport Ability to foster rapport while maintaining professional boundaries with participants High quality verbal and written communication skills Experience with documenting participant interactions in case notes Familiarity with and endorsement of 12-step programming Education and Experience High School Diploma Must have, or be eligible to obtain within first 90 days, Certified Peer Support credential in state of Center Class E Driver’s License Prior experience with justice-involved adults or other vulnerable populations and/or lived experience with recovery or the justice system
