Opening Date 06/18/2025 Closing Date 7/1/2025 11:59 PM Central Agency Minimum Salary $55,000.00 Agency Maximum Salary $55,000.00 About the Agency The primary function of the Agency is to properly administer and disburse funds to Mississippi’s community colleges as appropriated to it by the Legislature in accordance with state laws, regulations and established procedures in a business-like manner. About the Position The Program Specialist for Postsecondary Student Organizations is a full-time position within the Division for Postsecondary Student Organizations. The incumbent is responsible for providing support related to the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of postsecondary student organizations professional development opportunities. The incumbent will assist with developing and providing resources to faculty, staff, administrators, students, and selected partners. Work is subject to review by the Director of Postsecondary Student Organizations, to whom the incumbent reports.

Examples of Work:

The following responsibilities are intended only as examples of the various tasks performed by the incumbent in this position. These examples are not meant to be exhaustive; they are representative of the general functions of this position. 1. Supports the Assistant Director with developing, delivering, and monitoring training related to student organizations; 2. Stays abreast of student organizations’ policies and procedures updates and maintain an up-to-date portfolio for each organization; 3. Assists with planning collaboration meetings to ensure fall, state, and national conferences provide meaningful experiences for students and advisers; 4. Attends fall, state, and national conferences to provide support to State Directors, Local Chapter Advisers, and students as needed; 5. Serves as a liaison with internal and external constituencies on all matters relating to student organizations activities; 6. Represents the MCCB with respect to student organizations activities on a local, regional, and/or national basis; 7. Creates, produces, and delivers a range of promotional, educational, and informational presentations, and/or resource materials related to student organization activities and initiatives. ; 8. Participates in meetings, vendor calls, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions; 9. Sends and retrieves information and documents via Canvas for all student organization courses; 10. Provides administrative support for the Division of Postsecondary Student Organization such as coordinating travel arrangements, preparing purchase requisitions, coordinating meetings and events, and maintaining files; 11. Utilizes computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, database software, and agency forms to performing work assignments; 12. Represents MCCB in professional attire, demeanor, and daily discharge of duties.; 13. Serves as a proctor for competitive event testing for student organizations as needed; What you’ll need to be Successful A positive attitude and an understanding of the agency’s responsibilities and duties is very important. Organizational skills, promptness and serving in a reliable manner are essential attributes to success in this position. Ability to work independently or in a team-based, collaborative settings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task. Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of experience.

Agency preferred qualifications:

Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google Suite (i.e. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides). Experience creating digital and print content.
