The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi’s at-risk children and families. The Director of Administration oversees all aspects of statewide agency functions related to facilities and property, as well as State Office facility management and administrative support functions. This management position deals with budgeting, maintenance, procurement, purchasing and planning activities that go into agency operations. This position is responsible for the resourcing, safety and security of staff who utilize agency facilities statewide as well as the agency’s Emergency Operations Plan. The Director of Administration will work with the Department of Finance and Administration and the statewide County Boards of Supervisors to ensure adequate and appropriate county allotted space by administering contracts and leases with each County.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the units of Facility Management, Administrative Support and Property Management
- Responsible for the agency’s 83 physical county locations and State Office which includes coordinating and negotiating existing and new leases and subcontracts with Department of Finance and Administration and County Boards of Supervisors for the use of designated office space.
- Implementing and monitoring the agency’s Emergency Operations Plan to ensure continuous services to meet the needs of children and families.
- Supervision and coordination of all State Office Facility Management functions including but not limited to the Mailroom, storage and dock operations, security contracts and cleaning contracts.
- Responsible for statewide property audit and procurement of new property including furniture, fixtures and supplies.
- Handling long-range planning to support future needs and growth of the agency regarding office space allocation.
What you’ll need to be Successful Prior experience as an administration director or equivalent. Outstanding negotiating and decision-making skills. Strong leadership and communication skills. Capacity to juggle multiple demands. Ability to tend to emergencies outside of normal working hours. Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience and 2-4 years of supervisory experience.
