Commensurate with experience Job Summary Incumbent will be responsible for building coalitions and partnerships with community youth-related groups, agencies and other organizations. This position serves as a team member with county, regional and state leaders. Knowledge Skills and Abilities The Educator, 4H/ Community Resource Development (CRD) is expected to identify and establish working relationships with relevant local organizations and agencies to deliver educational programs, events and activities pertaining to 4-H and CRD in a designated geographic region of the state. Individual responsibilities include helping people find information and services, bringing people together within the group and help create a sense of community among group members. The individual is also expected to identify and establish working relationships with relevant local organizations and agencies to deliver educational programs, events and activities pertaining to 4-H and CRD in Adams, Claiborne and Jefferson Counties.
Essential Job Functions Individual must:
Have good writing and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with co-workers and other partners.
Develop an area Plan of Work based on ongoing Assessment of community issues in counties.
Establish and organize local advisory committees to assist in evaluating the educational learning opportunities and information resources of the counties’ issues.
Provide educational and technical assistance to organizations, agencies, and stakeholders in community development.
Demonstrate competency in the use of computers, computer programs (such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) and electronic outreach methods.
Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain public-private community partnerships.
Demonstrate integrity, honesty, accountability, transparency and safety at all times while representing the Alcorn State University Extension Program, Adams, Claiborne and Jefferson counties other assigned counties without compromise.
Coordinate work with volunteers.
Expand 4-H participation beyond the current club programs to include: school and community based and summer youth events and activities, career and workforce preparation and development and youth involvement in community projects.
Identify and establish working relationships with relevant local organizations agencies to deliver 4-H and Youth-related educational programs, events and activities at County, Regional and State Events.
Provide educational and technical assistance to organizations, agencies, and stakeholders in the area of community development.
Work collaboratively with other Extension programs staff, agencies, and community organizations to meet the needs of the CRD programs and the individuals that the programs serve.
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with the implementation and maintenance of the CRD programs.
Facilitate efforts in such areas as needs assessment.
Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness, Economics, Business Administration or other closely related disciplines. Master’s Degree in related field is preferred.
Two years of experience working effectively with youths and Community Resource Development.
