Position Characteristics of Work:

Third-level professional position accountable for assessing, identifying and treating mental and or behavioral conditions. Individuals in this classification provide mental health services to individuals residing in the ICF. Incumbents work closely with higher level behavioral health employees to provide services including screening assessments of behavioral and emotional functioning, intelligence, and behavioral analysis. Incumbents may act as mentors to employees in less advanced classifications.

Examples of work:
  • Interviews and write third level evaluations on individuals updating and evaluating psychological data.
  • Administers, scores and interprets complex psychological examinations to determine intelligence, mental deterioration, social maturity, educational level and other personality traits.
  • Interviews clients to obtain pertinent psychological data.
  • Administers, scores and interprets complex psychological examinations to determine intelligence, mental deterioration, social maturity, educational level and other personal traits.
  • Interprets test findings to the medical team, administrators, and other qualified or approved people.
  • Participates in and may lead psychiatric clinics and conferences with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other staff members to discuss patients/clients’ behavioral issues and data. Will review and interpret test data and psychological interview results for diagnosis and treatment of cases.
  • Prepare detailed, concise and clear reports of observations, test findings, and other data.
  • Charts weekly on individual case management of patients/clients.
  • Completes monthly and quarterly progress notes to determine patients/client’s behavioral progress.
  • Conducts individual or group counseling and psychotherapy.
  • Provides behavioral treatment during a crisis. Including but not limited to being on the floor, in the unit, with the client that is in active behavioral crisis situation.
  • Prepares detailed reports of observations, test findings and other data; prepares correspondence and maintains necessary records.
  • Trains staff on implementation of behavior treatment plan.
  • Prepares, drafts and conducts in-services on general behavior management techniques, and individualized behavioral management techniques for certain clients.
  • Attend classes, in-services, lectures, etc. for professional development. Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned. Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-7 years of experience.

Master’s degree is preferred.
