Substance Prevention Program Specialist 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Concord, NC 28025 Substance Prevention Program Specialist Non- Exempt General Definition of Work The Substance Prevention Specialist will oversee two essential programs, the Recovery High School and PASS, supporting students in our district who are found to be using drugs or alcohol. This role will coordinate intervention services, working directly with students, parents, and school staff to provide education and resources. This role will organize prevention workshops and support ongoing recovery programs to help students make healthier choices. The Specialist will track progress and collaborate with community partners to ensure comprehensive care. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. This is a grant funded position and is an 11-month position. Qualification Requirements Must hold a Bachelor’s degree, or have equivalent work experience Must have experience working in a school setting or clinical environment Experience working with high risk students preferred Certification or training in substance abuse, preferred Valid Driver’s License Essential Duties Oversee and manage two programs designed to support at-risk students identified for drug or alcohol use Coordinate and implement intervention strategies for students Organize educational workshops on substance misuse prevention for students, staff, and parents Track and document student progress, maintaining accurate data and reports Collaborate with school staff, counselors, and community agencies to ensure comprehensive student support Develop and distribute resources to raise awareness about substance abuse and prevention within the school community Advocate for students and ensure confidentiality and compliance with school policies and legal requirements Upholds Cabarrus County Schools standards and expectations when serving as a facilitator Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of substance use disorders and substance misuse treatments Knowledge of community resources Skilled in interacting effectively with adolescents and parents Strong organizational skills Demonstrated ability to deliver curriculum content Ability to adapt quickly to function effectively in new environments Demonstrated cultural competence across diverse populations Salary Contract rate Reports to Directors of Administrative and Student Services Physical Requirements Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, calculators, pencils, scissors, and equipment for children with special needs, etc. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Due to amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light Work.
