Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate Family Literacy Program Coordinator to oversee and manage family literacy programs across Guilford County. This role involves planning, organizing, and facilitating activities while supervising and supporting staff, interns, and volunteers. The coordinator works closely with parents and children enrolled in the program, ensuring meaningful engagement and smooth operations. Additionally, the coordinator maintains records, participates in outreach efforts, and supports families in achieving their goals. The coordinator reports to the Family Literacy Director. On-Site Programming Responsibilities Ensure student, volunteer, and instructor attendance is recorded onsite (sign-in/sign-out) Manage program interns and site volunteers Coordinate administration of literacy assessments and paperwork upon program intake and exit to measure progress of both adults and children Plan and lead family time activities which encourage positive parent-child literacy-based interactions (with support from interns, volunteers, and instructors) Regularly check in on classroom instruction for parents and children Assist Program Manager in providing necessary feedback to adult and child classroom instructors according to classroom check-ins In-Office and Other Responsibilities Submit paper attendance records to Program Assistant weekly Verify and approve student attendance once entered into agency databases Maintain student records for audit purposes Refer parents to other internal and external programs to support their progress as necessary Manage program interns and office volunteers Attend regular team meetings and relevant professional development activities Participate in weekly check-ins with Program Director Support Program Manager in community awareness and recruitment efforts Programming Preparation Responsibilities Coordinate with fellow coordinators to recruit and train a team of interns and volunteers Purchase and provide instructional materials to be used at program sites Purchase meals and supplies for program sites Support staff, interns, and volunteers with the delivery of meals to program sites Experience and Educational Requirements Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in education administration, social work, human development, nonprofit or education leadership, or a related field. 2+ years of experience in educational program oversight, staff oversight and support, or community outreach and engagement. 2+ years experience working with immigrant and refugee populations Essential Skills Ability to conduct effective group presentations Ability to collaborate effectively within the Family Literacy team Ability to collaborate with public schools, faith-based groups, and community organizations Strong multicultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations, including immigrants and refugees, and those with low English literacy skills Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency in data tracking and reporting Digital literacy skills (Word, Excel, Google Suite, Canva, databases) Bilingual proficiency preferred (especially in Spanish or Arabic)

Status :

Full time (37.5 hours)

Pay:

$18.50/hour

Benefits:

8% healthcare supplement (an additional $1.48 per hour)

PTO:

Generous PTO package containing 24 days PTO beginning in the calendar year after hire. Limited PTO is available in the year of hire based upon employment date.

Paid Staff Holidays:

Reading Connections observes 11 paid staff holidays per year.
