The CDL Help Desk Specialist supports and assists commercial drivers and other stakeholders regarding CDL regulations, applications, renewals, endorsements, and compliance. This role requires a strong understanding of CDL requirements, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. This position provides State Automated Driver License System Application Maintenance support and application guidance to Driver License examiners and Driver License field support staff pertaining to CDL. This position reviews and evaluates driver license records found on reporting systems such as the NDR- National Driver Registry, CDLIS Commercial Driver License Information System, and the PDPS Problem Driver Pointer system to determine Licensing eligibility. This position verifies the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse status of driver presented at the time of application for a NC commercial driver license or commercial learner permit. This position utilizes the Commercial Skills Test Information Management System (CSTIMS) to verify Entry Level Driver Training. This position utilizes the Transportation Security Administration System to update drivers’ hazmat threat assessment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: Knowledge of DMV licensing requirements, driving laws, policies, and procedures. Experience in disseminating accurate information with confidentiality. Knowledge of MS Office suite, SADLS, CDLIS, CSTIMS, computer hardware, knowledge of commercial licensing and regulatory requirements. Experience exercising judgment and discretion in establishing, applying and interpreting policies and procedures.
