ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet® designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people. Position Summary Serves adult or children with wellness programming. Position varies by division (Works, Rewards, Center) with main variable being the audience served adult or child, ECU Health employees / Industry employees / General Community, Children’s Weight management/Children’s programming, etc. This position creates and implements programs and curriculum for the target audience. Responsibilities 1. Assess population and individual needs and health risks. Identify targeted populations via needs assessments/ market data/ participant profiles, etc. Coordinate and perform clinical, health risk and needs assessments of targeted population such as health risk appraisals, clinical assessments, surveys and others. (Clinical measures may include, but not limited to: blood tests, body composition, blood pressure, fitness tests, metabolic cart, drug screens, and audiometric, pulmonary function). Coordinate and/or participate in health fairs, screenings or other health promotion campaigns for targeted populations. Collaborate with internal and external providers and agencies. Input, summarize and evaluate data into reports.
2. Develop, implement, and market a mix of revenue and non-revenue generating wellness programs, curricula, activities and events. Provide oversight and direct participation in delivery of programs / curricula. Develop group health and disease based education classes, programs and events based upon the needs of the targeted population. Prepare and disseminate health messages for targeted audience. Research, evaluate and/or develop health education materials. Develop and implement wellness challenges focused on improvement of health behaviors and motivation for participants such as physical activity, nutrition and weight focused competitions. Collaborate with ECU Health interdisciplinary teams to incorporate sound exercise, nutrition and primary care principles into all wellness programs. Provide individualized health coaching and education to targeted population using principles of health education and behavior change. Assist in development and implementation of an integrated marketing plan directed at targeted customers. Provide Corporate Health departments and other appropriate ECU Health and external parties with updates on activities and programs being provided.
3. Participate and oversee program staffing and operational requirements. Participate, and coordinate internal staff, contractors or external instructors/facilitators to implement wellness programs. Complete and update contract agreements. Identify community or ECU Health resources (materials, staff, and facility) to facilitate programs or events. Check and allocate equipment, supplies to program or event. Coordinate staffing schedules Assist in the evaluation of program instructors; provide information on appropriate educational or certification opportunities. Maintain and monitor program schedules, registration and attendance. Develop and oversee individual program budgets Recruit and mentor student interns.
4. Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and quality assurance initiatives of this department. Ensure that Policy and Procedures are written and/or updated in a timely manner. Develop and implement quality assurance methods and techniques to measure customer satisfaction. Provide reports of program participation and outcomes and develop strategies based on results to continually improve current or develop new program offerings. Monitor program quality and ensure that standards are met through personal observation and participation in programs, as well as actively requesting feedback through comments and surveys. Adapt programming to the needs of special populations. Keep abreast and inform coworkers of new developments in the fields of health education, nutrition, exercise, behavior modification, motivation and health coaching. Adhere to and enforce ECU Health policies and procedures, best practices, and regulatory requirements. Promote excellence in program design and staff delivery. Participates actively in Service Excellence, Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement activities; consistently calls the Question regarding safety or quality issues Support Corporate Health Goals and Objectives; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements College Degree (4 yrs.) in Exercise Physiology, Health Education, Nutrition or related preferred. Related Master’s degree can substitute for one year work-related experience. 1 year experience required in Community, Corporate, Hospital or Private based Wellness, Fitness, and Health Promotion settings CPR certification required within 6 months of employment is required. NC Driver’s license required
