This position will manage the Resource Program Management Office consisting of 5 employees. Duties will include having contact with applicant family members, mentors, potential mentors and multiple outside agencies when working to place applicants in the program; Serve as a point of contact for answering inquiries from the public about the program and the requirements to apply for admission to an upcoming class; Work with the Resource Program Management staff to greet and direct new cadets and family members during orientation and in-processing; Review potential cadet applications for completeness; Ensure follow ups are done to update all applications missing information; Input necessary data regarding applicants and mentors into the ChalleNGe database which captures data regarding all aspects of cadet personal, training and education information; In-puts data from mentor monthly assessment reports into ChalleNGe database before due date; and maintains the residential files of cadets attending the program. They ensure all files containing personal information are secured in accordance with National Guard Bureau and state regulations; Compose outgoing correspondence from the RPM Office to various staff members, higher headquarters and outside agencies as required; Provide input in the newsletter for parents and mentors; Uses a desktop computer and MS Office software to create word documents, spreadsheets and presentations as needed. They use the computer to update information and run reports from the ChalleNGe database; Receives and transmits mail from various State and DPS offices including HR & Fiscal using the state courier mail system. Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy:

The Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA) is a quasi-military style resident program for at risk youth in the ages of 16-18. Sponsored by the North Carolina National Guard, the TCA mission is to redirect the efforts of young adults who have had trouble succeeding in the normal high school environment. The intent is to give them the skills and attitude to become productive citizens in their communities. The Academies are located in two different locations: Salemburg and New London, North Carolina. It is a 17-month program divided into two distinct phases: a five-month in-residence phase at the academies, and a twelve-month post-residential phase immediately following graduation for the in-residence phase. TCA seeks to improve the life and future employment potential of its cadets by concentrating on eight core components which are: Life Coping Skills, Academic Excellence, Responsible Citizenship, Job Skills, Service to Community, Health and Hygiene, Physical Fitness, and Leadership/Followership.

KSAs:

Documented computer experience to include Microsoft Word, Excel. Previous experience planning and coordinating a volume and variety of appointments, meetings and conferences;
Experience interpreting data, analyze/solve problems and submitting reports. Documented experience supervising or coordinating the work of other staff;
Management prefers previous Tarheel Challenge Academy experience. Additional Requirements and/or training provided by TCA;
Basic Course;
Supervisor Course. CPR (recertify every two years

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
