Description Gaston Social Services:
Protecting, caring for, and empowering children and adults who are temporarily or permanently unable to care for themselves through the administration of federal, state, and county programs focused on improving the well-being of our citizens. Examples of Duties The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned, but are those that are considered essential for an employee to perform. Supervises Workforce Development Board (WDB) Staff, including: Business Services Representative, Performance Accountability Specialist/Superuser, and Clerk to Board/Provider Specialist, in addition to any grant-funded or temporary staff—complete payroll and performance reviews. Develop and complete training for new WDB Staff Members. Conducts monitoring and site visits on all WIOA Program Contractors and Career Center Staff for the WIOA programs, including Adult, Dislocated Worker, and Youth. Identifies errors and/or deficiencies in the following areas: programmatic, data validation, financial, and equal employment opportunities. Makes recommendations for improvements and training. Collaborates with Center Managers and WIOA Program Contractor Managers to develop effective internal operating practices and procedures for the local area career centers. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with community-based organizations and employers. Assists in developing career pathways, grant applications, local area plans, RFPs, and contracts, when necessary. Collects, analyzes, and systematically compiles technical and statistical information and develops necessary reports. Also maintains significant knowledge of resources for human services, employment and training needs. Works with the WIOA Coordinator to review and interpret federal laws and state policy statements to develop local area policies and procedures for WIOA programs. Develops, organizes, and renders training to all WIOA contracted program managers and directors, as well as WDB and contracted staff (when necessary), on new and existing federal laws, state policy statements, and LA policies & procedures. Plans and organizes LA and/or Regional events, meetings, and trainings. Attend meetings, webinars, and trainings across the state, regionally, and locally. Leads bimonthly meetings of management and leadership team members for the local area WDB, Career Ctr’s, and Career Center Partners. Participates in the Provider Review Team to determine appropriate training providers’ eligibility for inclusion in the NCWorks Approved Provider List and each of their programs’ eligibility to be included in the NCWorks Approved Program List. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree & 2 years of experience in WIOA programs or equivalent combination of education & experience Additional Information The applicant selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
