Department of Public Instruction:

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state’s public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for an Education Program Specialist for the Educator Recruitment and Support Division. This position provides professional educator services within the Licensure Section. The Licensure Section administers the State Board of Education policies and programs related to the professional licensing of public-school personnel. Professional Licensure is required by State statute and State Board policies for employment in the public schools of North Carolina. The section, in conjunction with other DPI divisions, assists in developing and recommending State Board policy related to licensure and testing requirements for professional educators. The section is responsible for establishing, monitoring, maintaining, and housing the official State records of all licensed professional personnel who are/have been eligible to serve in North Carolina school systems. This position is responsible for the licensure evaluation processes that involves determining the level of licensure, developing an official course of action for individual licensure programs, and deciding the appropriate application of experience for salary purposes. The position requires licensure eligibility review using the Online Licensure System. The employee provides a broad range of consultation to NC stakeholders through a structured on-call system and in-take scheduling. The Education Program Specialist monitors and performs special projects as assigned.
