job title: Facilitator – direct work with children ages 7 -17 Wildwood Agile Learning Community (ALC) is a unique, nonprofit microschool rooted in Self-Directed Education (SDE). We operate 3 days/week from September-May and serve approximately 21 children and teens (ages 7 and up) in a mixed-age setting. We nurture the joy of learning by empowering young people to explore their interests, shape their own paths, and build community together. Our program fosters choice, freedom, and collaboration between students, facilitators, and the local community, with a focus on curiosity, play, trust, respect, equity, and autonomy. We are seeking a facilitator for the 2025-26 school year—someone who is both playful and mature, passionate about supporting and engaging with young people in an authentic, respectful, supportive, non-coercive, and nonjudgmental way. Facilitators support learning, autonomy and agency outside the conventional school system. The role involves helping to create a physically, emotionally, and intellectually safe space where learning emerges from students’ own curiosity and intentions. Facilitators are grounded in trust, recognizing each child’s unique path, and are committed to fostering community, curiosity, and empowerment. They connect with young people in ways that inspire growth, build meaningful relationships, and encourage joyful learning. A small amount of paid training/planning (including some training in Agile Learning facilitation) may happen during summer 2025, with an official start in mid-August 2025. Wildwood operates three days/week (Tuesday-Thursday) from September through May. The position involves approximately 25 hours/week when school is in session, with a small amount of planning/training during school breaks (summer, winter, spring). If applicants have children who would like to join the program, that is welcomed as well. Principals only. Recruiters, please don’t contact this job poster.
