To support the Earth Science Stretch Fall 2024 off campus program. Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Works well with others.
Maintains a mature approach to leadership in off campus programming.
Meets the Dartmouth College Van Driver Criteria and is willing to drive a 12 passenger van and trailer for up to 8 hours a day.
Has a US Driver’s License.
Can lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Preferred Qualifications
Has experience interfacing with college aged individuals to assist with mental and physical health.
Has experience in supporting teaching in outdoor educational settings.
Has Wilderness First Aid certification.
Has Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness EMT certification (preferable).
Previously participated on an Earth Sciences STRETCH off campus program and is recommended by the faculty director on that program. FLSA

Supervise Program Participants

  • 55%
    Be available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to assist and support program participants.

Assist faculty and graduate TAs with response to medical situations that arise during the program.
Support program participants who are dealing with personal crises, as needed.
Manage any necessary

COVID-19

mitigation measures, testing and illness response.
Assist faculty and TAs in inform students on an ongoing basis about health, security and safety-related precautions and processes.
Inform the faculty program director and onsite support staff about any concerns, misbehavior, or other issues that pose a significant risk to the health or safety of one or more of the program participants, or any behavior that jeopardizes the good standing of the program. Devise and Lead Cultural and Educational Programs and Activities for Program Participants

  • 10%
    Lead program participants on trips, activities, lectures, and other experiences which provide cultural and educational opportunities, as requested. Assist the Faculty Program Director and Onsite Support Staff with Program Administrative and Logistical Support Needs
  • 20%
    Help to assemble orientation materials, assist in conducting orientation meetings and activities (tours, etc.

) with the faculty director, and in general orient students to the program.
Assist with preparation of all equipment and vehicles for field operations prior to the start of the program.
Be available to assist the faculty program director and onsite support staff such as TAs with contingencies and other reasonable assignments, as needed. Facilitate Learning, Development, and Community Among Program Participants

    Develop and maintain an appropriate relationship with each program participant.
    Support individual participants in meeting their personal, social, and academic goals.
    Facilitate the development of positive relationships among participants.
    Foster a sense of inclusion and unity among participants and an atmosphere of safety and respect.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
