Our mission is to empower adults through structured, engaging, and person-centered activities that promote independence, community integration, and overall well-being. Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Director to oversee all aspects of our day program. This leadership role is ideal for someone with strong regulatory compliance experience , exceptional management skills, and a passion for serving adults with disabilities. The Program Director will be responsible for ensuring program quality, creating activity schedules, conducting monthly safety drills, and managing staff and operations in compliance with DDD and Medicaid standards. Key Responsibilities Program Management & Compliance Ensure full compliance with DDD, Medicaid, and NJ state regulations. Conduct and document monthly emergency drills (fire, lockdown, evacuation, etc.). Prepare for and oversee audits, licensing visits, and quality reviews. Maintain accurate participant and program documentation in accordance with all applicable guidelines. Staff Leadership Recruit, train, supervise, and support direct support professionals (DSPs) and program staff. Facilitate regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and coaching. Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment. Activity & Program Development Create and implement age-appropriate, person-centered daily activity schedules. Ensure all activities are engaging, meaningful, and aligned with participant goals and interests. Oversee the coordination of community outings and enrichment programs. Family & Community Outreach Administrative Operations Serve as a point of contact for families, guardians, support coordinators, and community partners. Build relationships with local organizations to support participant engagement and visibility. Represent Hearten Day Program at events and professional networks. Manage scheduling, budgeting, supply orders, and operational logistics. Monitor program performance metrics and adjust practices for continuous improvement. Ensure participant goals from ISPs (Individualized Service Plans) are supported and documented. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 5 years experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, with 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Demonstrated understanding of DDD, Medicaid, and licensing requirements Strong skills in team management, program planning, documentation, and regulatory compliance. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic electronic documentation systems. Must be able to conduct and document monthly safety drills and activity schedules. Valid NJ Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
