Position Summary:
The USA Programs Coordinator is based at ARCD’s headquarters in Clifton, NJ and manages ARCD-supported international programs and partnerships across Africa. The Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and evaluating project proposals from African community partners, drafting and monitoring grant agreements, supporting program reporting and learning, and acting as liaison between ARCD’s HQ and African field offices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Field and Sector Expertise
- Maintain an understanding of international humanitarian and community development standards.
- Monitor program feasibility and implementation across ARCD-supported African projects.
- Serve as an internal reference for seasonal campaigns and Africa partnerships. Strategic Input
- Contribute to strategy and operational planning for ARCD’s Africa-focused programs.
- Compile and analyze program data to inform decisions and improve program impact.
- Recommend improvements to existing Africa program policies and procedures. External Representation
- Represent ARCD at forums, conferences, and coalition meetings.
- Share knowledge and best practices to strengthen ARCD’s partnerships and visibility.
- Conduct research to incorporate international best practices into program development. Grants and Program Management
- Support international grantmaking and program activities within ARCD’s Africa portfolio.
- Review and assess incoming proposals and grant budgets from African community partners.
- Recommend proposals for approval or denial based on evaluation standards.
- Maintain records of proposals, due diligence, and grant documentation.
- Draft grant agreements and manage communication and reporting from grantees.
- Track grant payments, reports, and compliance.
- Resolve grantee inquiries and issues proactively.
- Support preparation of program reports and presentations. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
- Maintain accurate records and track program progress across African projects.
- Conduct site visits to monitor program quality and partner compliance.
- Share findings and lessons learned to improve program effectiveness. Program Communications
- Coordinate and share program information internally across ARCD departments.
- Review and provide accurate program data for fundraising and marketing materials.
- Assist the Communications and Development teams with content for donor and community engagement.
- Respond to donor and partner requests for program information.
- Maintain strong relationships with ARCD’s Africa-based partner organizations and field offices. Other
- Perform additional duties as needed to support ARCD’s Africa-focused Programs Division.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- bachelor’s degree in international development, Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in program coordination, grant management, or community engagement in the international nonprofit sector.
- Knowledge of community development and emergency relief programs in Africa.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and program management software.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally to Africa (up to 15%).
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required for program events.
- Bilingual fluency (preferred but not required).
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
