About You:
We are seeking a committed, experienced,and energetic individual to join our team. This is a collaborativeleadership role accountable for program management and underwritingof a sub-portfolio of programs within Spinnaker. The idealcandidate will be self-motivated, a change leader that challengesand continuously improves existing processes and procedures, aswell as a subject matter expert in personal lines, commerciallines, program management and compliance.
What Youll Do:
ADirector, Program Business, Spinnaker, you will act as “CEO” of anumber of Spinnaker programs. You will have primary P&Lresponsibility for the book of business, and you will beresponsible for setting program annual goals which will includestrategies and tactics for profit, growth, expense management, andallocation of catastrophe capacity. A key strategic part of therole is relationship management, and you will act as the primaryinterface with each program, to include their Claims TPA,reinsurers and the brokers.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Represent your assigned programs as a member of the Spinnakersenior leadership team Accountable for ensuring your programs arein compliance with our contractual terms and follow all regulatorycompliance requirements State filing review/signoff along withbroader program-specific teams Quality and accuracy of thedeal-specific business terms Responsibility for each programmeeting strategic objectives as stated by the CEO and seniorleadership team Oversight of onboarding checklist(s) for newprograms assigned to you Oversight of renewal strategy incollaboration with Finance and Operations Collaborate with Financeand Operation to ensure monthly reinsurer reporting are donecorrectly Collaborate with Finance and Operation to ensure accountreconciliation, including review and approval of account balancesdue MGAs/reinsurers Collaborate with Finance and Operation toensure claims and treaty reporting, including review and approvalof program-specific claims and IBNR are done correctly As needed,participate in the new business development process, incollaboration with the broader team Review of potential newbusiness opportunities Collaborate with the Hippo Reinsurance teamto ensure: Specific reinsurance placements are done correctly andtimely Participate in industry conferences/events; marketing andreinsurer visits as needed As owner of each program, and inaddition to the broader duties outlined above, program specificresponsibilities include: Overall P&L responsibility forprograms in your portfolio. Implement action steps to improveunderwriting results of programs as necessary Develop annual growthand profit plans for the program Develop and/or amend underwritingguidelines specific to each program Plan, manage, and evaluate workof program administrators/MGAs When applicable, develop and manageCAT management objectives including PML management in conjunctionwith Hippo risk management department Direct responsibility forportfolio management of assigned programs including but not limitedto, management/allocation of limit accumulations, remediation orculling of unprofitable business, and oversight of remediation ofMGAs with unsatisfactory audit results Work with program brokersand MGAs to place reinsurance specific to the program andcoordinate with Hippo risk management department. Responsible forensuring signed reinsurance agreements are loaded to contractdatabase (Lexion) Collaborate with Spinnaker Claims department tomonitoring claim activity on program and act where appropriate(e.g. underwriting guidelines, forms development, claimsoperations) Key Program Audit responsibilities include: Conductunderwriting audits and quality reviews to validate compliance withall underwriting guidelines and quality standards are met Conducttermination and run-off processes for discontinued programs
MustHaves:
Minimum of 7-10 years of risk management experience inpersonal and/or commercial insurance positions of increasingresponsibility required Bachelor’s degree required Proficient withsetting and negotiating Reinsurance Programs Contract Draftingexperience Experience with coverage analysis Understanding oftechnical claims proficiency and execution of best claim practicesUnderstanding of insurance concepts such as contracts, policyforms, reinsurance, state regulation, and claims coverage Strongbusiness acumen and ability to collaborate with other departmentsand stakeholders Demonstrated success in exercising independentdecision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation competency Strongorganizational and analytical skills with ability to conductanalysis on unstructured data Intermediate Excel skills arerequired Customer-service and relationship oriented Nice to
