Binghamton University’s Office of Entrepreneurship & Innovation Partnerships (EIP) is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Program Manager to support the New Energy New York (NENY) initiative. This individual will serve as an operational lead for core programs within NENY, with additional responsibilities related to federal grant reporting and compliance. Reporting to the Deputy Director of NENY, the Program Manager – NENY will oversee program design and delivery, stakeholder engagement, and day-to-day coordination of activities across NENY’s innovation and workforce development programs. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and adaptable professional with experience managing cross-sector initiatives, particularly those focused on clean energy, advanced manufacturing or public-private partnerships.
Responsibilities:
Program Management and Implementation + Lead implementation and continuous improvement of NENY programs. + Coordinate program cycles across innovation and workforce programs, including onboarding, deliverable tracking, and milestone verification. + Design and manage the RFP process for the Technical Assistance Program (TAP) in collaboration with the Supply Chain Program Manager, including info sessions, webinars, office hours and applicant support. + Administer the full award lifecycle for TAP, including contract management, invoicing and post-award compliance. + Monitor participant progress and ensure timely completion of program deliverables. + Support recruitment and onboarding for the Pre-Accelerator Program applicants and commercialization coaches. + Manage the Pre-Accelerator Program’s participants support and coaches support funding in association with the Sponsored Programs department. + Manage the Pre-Accelerator Program’s final pitch event in collaboration with NextCorps; assist with other NENY-hosted events as needed. + Develop and manage partnerships that support workforce development initiatives. + Support the integration of Battery Academy with broader NENY initiatives, including internships, pre-apprenticeships and employer engagement, in collaboration with the Battery Academy Learning Design Manager. + Collaborate with sub awardees to ensure alignment of outreach, curriculum, and evaluation efforts. Partnership Development and Engagement + Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with academia, industry, nonprofit, and government agencies with a specific focus on workforce development and innovation and technology priorities. + Coordinate with TAP service providers and awardees to ensure alignment with industry needs and program goals. + Collaborate with the Battery Academy Learning Design Manager to engage with local employers, workforce boards and educational institutions to strengthen the impact and relevance of Battery Academy offerings. + Represent NENY at selected regional and national events and conduct outreach to prospective applicants, stakeholders and collaborators. + Work closely with marketing and communications teams on program visibility, messaging and applicant recruitment strategies. Grants Management and Reporting + Assist in preparing and submitting required reports to federal and state funders, including the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). + Track and analyze program data to evaluate performance and maintain compliance with funder requirements. + Collect and report annual economic impact metrics and contribute to internal and external program evaluation summaries.
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, STEM, Public Administration or a related field. + Minimum of 3 years of experience managing cross-functional programs in innovation, workforce development or economic development. + Demonstrated ability to build coalitions and collaborate across sectors, including academia, industry, and government. + Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and deadlines. + Self-directed, adaptable and capable of working independently and collaboratively. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Airtable and video conferencing platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in Business, STEM, Public Administration, or a related field. + Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent. + Experience in the clean energy, battery, or energy storage sectors. + Familiarity with entrepreneurship, business incubators, or startup accelerators. + Background in higher education or university-based research and innovation ecosystems. + Knowledge of U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) or other federal funding agency reporting processes. + Willingness and ability to travel locally, nationally and internationally as needed.

Salary:
