Duties:
The Program Specialist will develop and facilitate specialized programming for the Vet2Vet Program in collaboration with the Program Manager. The Program Specialist may also assist with other specialized programming as needed in the department, to include support groups, therapeutic events, and reporting.
General Program Duties:
Assist with surveys, process registrations, provide appropriate referrals
Support:
Provide safe and non-judgmental environment for members to share their concerns and experiences; provide families/caregivers with information on the program Program development: Assist in designing appropriate support and socialization activities; in collaboration with the Program Manager, establish, recruit for, and facilitate support groups; recruit volunteers/mentors and clients for program, and other activities as needed Regular coordination with Program Manager; assist with educational programs and training
Advocacy, Support, and I&R:
Meet with veterans individually and/or with families to provide support and advocacy as needed; discuss findings and impressions with supervisor; present and explain program to individual and/or family; secure required documentation; address concerns and questions; manage expectations Provide service in-home or out-of-home on days and times specified, in accordance with agreements made; consult with supervisor about issues involving possible interventions or uncertainty; provide appropriate referrals. Collaborate with Program Manager in setting up quarterly recreation/socialization activities for veterans, their families, and other stakeholders (advisory board, staff, etc.)
Qualifications:
1. Must be veteran 2. High School Diploma or GED required, Associate’s Degree preferred. 3. Self-starting, motivated individual able to work flexible hours. 4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required. 5. An understanding of the population being served, its needs, intervention strategies, culture, and available services.
