Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Center for Resilience is a key initiative within Sid Jacobson JCC, dedicated to promoting preventative mental health. We offer programs that help community members build skills in resilience, coping, emotional regulation, and overall psychological well-being. Our mission is to empower individuals through education, engagement, and support The Program Coordinator will play an essential role in the successful planning, coordination, and execution of programs within the Center for Resilience. This individual will work closely with a licensed psychologist who leads curriculum development and will serve as a liaison between staff, facilitators, and community members. The role requires strong administrative capabilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate and implement preventative mental health programs from planning to execution. Serve as a point of contact for participants, speakers, internal departments, and community partners. Collaborate with the licensed psychologist on program timelines, logistics, and materials. Schedule programs, reserve space, order supplies, and manage participant communications. Maintain and update program documentation, attendance records, and evaluation results. Prepare flyers, PowerPoints, and other program materials using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Assist with marketing efforts in partnership with the communications team. Speak at programs as needed to introduce speakers or share information about upcoming initiatives. Help monitor and assess program effectiveness and collect participant feedback. Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment aligned with the center’s values and mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, education, or related field required. 3-5 years of experience in program coordination, event planning, or nonprofit administration. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. Comfort with public speaking and interacting with diverse groups of people. Collaborative spirit and ability to work well in a team-oriented environment. Passion for mental health promotion and community wellness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, including working at a desk, in counseling sessions, or during virtual meetings. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, handling confidential files, and using office equipment. Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically in person, over the phone, and in video conferencing, requiring auditory and visual acuity. Occasional standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching when preparing for support groups, events, or educational programs. Must be able to lift and transport up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., program materials, printed resources, event signage, and supplies).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primary work takes place in a supportive, client-centered professional office setting within the Center for Resilience. Periodic remote or hybrid work may be permitted based on organizational policy and client needs. In-person interaction with clients and their families, which requires sensitivity to confidentiality, emotional vulnerability, and physical health challenges. Regular collaboration with internal departments, external service providers, healthcare professionals, and community organizations. Occasional work in non-office environments such as medical centers, wellness events, client homes, or outdoor fundraising initiatives (e.g., wellness walks). Fast-paced and emotionally nuanced environment that demands compassion, discretion, and resilience. May involve flexible scheduling, including evening or weekend hours, to accommodate client availability or special programming.
