02/26/2025 4:24 PM The Rockland County Department of Health is seeking a candidate to perform public health surveillance and epidemiological work primarily involving overseeing the reporting and data collection functions of the Tuberculosis Control Program administered by the Department of Health. The work is performed under the direction of a higher-level administrator and work guidance (e.g. lead work) is provided to others. Candidates must possess good knowledge of the principles and practices of communicable disease control, including the roles of surveillance and epidemiology, medical terminology, government regulations regarding the identification and tracking of Tuberculosis and other communicable diseases. Candidates must also possess the ability to organize, analyze and present data, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, establish and maintain cooperative relations with others; especially members of the medical community and the public in general and the ability to use computer software (e.g. Microsoft 365) in the analysis of communicable disease data•.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Public Health and one (1) year of professional experience in epidemiology in a public health agency
Other Requirements and Information:
Residency in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut is a requirement for this position. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout the course of employment in this title This is a competitive position in Civil Service and reachability on an eligible list following a civil service examination is required for permanent appointment.
