This position has the opportunity to expand into a full-time role with increased compensation based on program growth, funding availability, and performance. About Monica Roberts Place Monica Roberts Place is a transformative housing initiative of Sisters PGH, providing safe, stable, and affirming housing for Black and Brown trans individuals. Our mission extends beyond housing—we work toward financial empowerment, homeownership pathways, and economic sustainability for our residents. We are seeking a dedicated and community-centered Monica Roberts Place Coordinator to help maintain the program’s daily operations, provide direct tenant support, conduct outreach to increase program visibility, and work closely with the Executive Director and broader team to ensure the long-term success of this initiative. Responsibilities Tenant Support & Program Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, addressing concerns and ensuring a supportive living environment.
  • Conduct quarterly unit inspections and provide tenants with timely notices of inspections.
  • Assist tenants with accessing available on-site resources, referrals, and financial literacy workshops through the
NEST-EGG

Savings Program.

  • Facilitate community-building activities to promote tenant engagement and empowerment. Administrative & Property Management
  • Respond to tenant inquiries, emails, and administrative requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Oversee rent collection processes and assist tenants with navigating online payment portals.
  • Document and track tenant progress, concerns, and any behavioral or maintenance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Monica Roberts Place policies, including visitor restrictions and tenant agreements.
  • Maintain open communication with the Executive Director regarding tenant concerns, policy enforcement, and program developments. Outreach & Program Development
  • Conduct outreach efforts to increase awareness of Monica Roberts Place within Black and Brown trans communities.
  • Represent Monica Roberts Place at community events, housing resource fairs, and advocacy meetings.
  • Develop relationships with local service providers, organizations, and stakeholders to enhance programmatic support and partnerships.
  • Work with Sisters PGH leadership to expand and improve Monica Roberts Place’s housing services. Trauma-Informed Approach & Boundaries
  • As a representative of Monica Roberts Place, the Coordinator must be mindful of professional boundaries when engaging with the broader Black and Brown trans community.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries when engaging with potential applicants and community members outside of a professional setting.
  • Approach community engagement with care, professionalism, and accountability, ensuring that all interactions uphold the integrity of the program and its mission.
  • Utilize a trauma-informed approach in all interactions with tenants, recognizing the impact of systemic oppression, discrimination, and housing insecurity on trans individuals.
NEST-EGG

Savings Program & Financial Empowerment

  • Support tenants in understanding and engaging with the
NEST-EGG

program, which helps them save toward homeownership and financial independence.

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of financial literacy workshops in partnership with community organizations.
  • Track and report tenant participation and progress in savings initiatives. Community Partnerships
  • Work closely with local organizations, agencies, and businesses to build partnerships that support tenant stability and success.
  • Advocate for tenants’ needs and connect them with mental health, employment, and legal resources.
  • Represent Monica Roberts Place in relevant housing and advocacy discussions. Qualifications
  • Lived experience and/or strong knowledge of Black and Brown trans communities, housing insecurity, and economic justice.
  • Experience in housing coordination, outreach, program development, case management, or a similar role preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including email communication, document management, and scheduling.
  • Comfort with conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies when working with tenants.
  • Passion for financial literacy, housing justice, and trans-led community initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a larger team.
  • Understanding of appropriate professional boundaries when engaging with the Black and Brown trans community in both personal and professional settings.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and trauma-informed care.
