This position is accountable for reviewing eligibility and program expectations prior to patients meeting with the Behavioral Health Consultant and assigned Medical Provider for MAT services. This position requires a thorough understanding of the clinic’s philosophy of treatment, admission process and criteria. A basic knowledge of substance abuse and co-occurring diagnosis is essential. The individual is responsible for ensuring that clinical and administrative intake services are provided for patients. In addition, the individual will be responsible for coordinating services with key stakeholders such as: patients, family members, community drug & alcohol providers, parole & probation officers, community mental health providers, insurance carriers, and other interested parties. Medication Assisted Treatment Coordinator will also oversee and supervise Berks Community Health Center’s Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) while assigning each patient to a CRS Principal Duties and Responsibilities Provide patient/community engagement which includes education and outreach efforts to individuals/family members along with local community and organizations seeking Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services or knowledge about Berks Community Health Center’s programs. Complete all tracking and reporting requirements for outcomes and evaluation around MAT program and participants. Supervise certified recovery specialist to ensure compliance with documentation, charting, and services rendered to patients in accordance with BCHC policies. Oversee prior authorization via patient’s insurance plans, request samples if available from pharmaceutical companies, order materials required for MAT services such as: Point of Care Test, Flyers, Smart resources, etc. . • The ability to function effectively as a member of a professional team that includes: patients, family members, drug &alcohol, behavioral health and primary care providers, and other treatment team members as identified by patient. Ensure patients are educated on advantages, disadvantages, side effects of Suboxone and Vivitrol prior to participating in BCHC’s MAT program and are informed of signs/symptoms of overdose/managing withdrawal symptoms prior to Suboxone induction or being given Vivitrol. Ensure the success of each patient referral through collaborative support and working relationships with external sources. Create and keep an up to date referral data base for Behavioral Health Team to use and refer patients to community resources. Review the importance of treatment compliance and goal of finding a suitable medication under MAT in coordination with counseling services to ensure best practices and patient’s success in treatment. The ability to remove phone messages during working hours from Medication Assistance Treatment (MAT) line. All calls should be returned within 2 hours of message being left. The ability to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality with respect to communication, documentation, and data. Other duties as required Education and Requirements Master’s Degree such as: MSW, MBA, or BSN Three to five years’ experience working within the field of substance abuse disorder Basic knowledge around assessment tools for opiate and alcohol addiction Basic understanding and willingness to collaborate with community resources such as, but not limited to: The Department of Human Services, Criminal Justice System, DDAP approved sites, Mental Health Providers, TASC, among other community partners. Proficiency in knowledge of office management, use of computer, software packages, and office machines
