The position of 2390 Vocational and Community Participation Support staff is instrumental planning and implementing activities and outings that foster that growth for people with disabilities. The 2390 Vocational & Community Participation Support staff (VCPS) works directly to supervise, support and in conjuction with the Vocational Program Specialist with the team of Direct Support Staff.

Some duties included:

Be creative and detailed orientated in planning programming in the facility and in the community. Have the ability create memos, calendars and other written correspondence. Develop an understanding of individuals’ interests in vocational training, employment and community participation. Schedule community trips and activities, prepare logs and monitor to ensure quality and expectations are met. Guide staff in programming and implementation of activities for development and improvement of skills for daily living, socialization and employment to enrich people lives. Develop valued volunteer projects and community participation support outings based on interest, preference and talents of individuals. Build partnerships with community resources. Work with Vocational Program Specialist to plan activities to include supplies, ordering, inventory and budget controls. Provide coverage for Vocational Program Specialist and Direct Service Workers as needed. Provide oversight to ensure regulations and program standards are met. Use the computer and programs such as excel, power point, word, and email. Work with staff and individuals in accomplishing skill building activities based on the person’s needs, interest, abilities and preferences. Attend training to help with competencies, work with individuals directly as needed, be responsible for notes, logs and promotion of activities for company and social media use. Be a positive team player with high energy & have the ability to promote programs/ services changes. Become certified in CPR & First Aid and Certified Investigations.
