Job Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The individual must have a minimum of three (3) years of satisfactory job-related experiences. The individual will provide intensive nutrition education to audiences with limited resources. Recruits, organizes, and trains volunteers. Works with State EFNEP Management Team and administrators of other organizations to implement and improve the Expanded Food Nutrition & Education Program.

Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:

Conducts nutrition learning education experiences with families with limited resources. Conducts food demonstrations and activities for recruitment and teaching at local community agencies and schools. Conducts nutrition education learning experiences with identified audiences. Conducts special programs and events in targeted communities and schools as directed. Recruits clients in specified regional area to teach nutrition lessons.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to recruit and market programs with confidence, make decisions, and be dependable.
Provide courteous and responsive service to the public, disadvantaged rural/urban people, as well as professionals.
Planning and organizing, written and oral communication skills, teaching and presentation skills. Ability to utilize technology and social media for the delivery of programs. Valid South Carolina driver’s license is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

Education and Experience:

High School Graduate or GED with at least 3 years work experience beyond high school or 2-year college or vocational/technical school, preferred.
.Valid South Carolina driver’s license is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Work Environment:

Expected to work beyond the traditional 8:30 am

  • 5:00 pm work schedule.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends, especially during the summer (35%).

Physical Requirements:

Position may involve occasional bending, moving, lifting, and carrying materials weighing up to 40 pounds.

Travel Requirements:

Travel within the region may be required. Overnight in-state and out-of-state travel may be required on occasion.

Application Requirements/Special Instructions:

This position is federally funded by the Farm Bill (Agriculture Improvement Act) Section 1444, Agricultural Extension Activities at 1890 Land-Grant Institutions/ Section 1445, Agricultural Research Activities at 1890 Land Grant Institutions.
Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School Graduate or GED with at least 3 years work experience beyond high school or 2-year college or vocational/technical school, preferred.
Valid South Carolina driver’s license is required.
Additional Comments
The individual must have the ability to perform duties on own initiative while receiving minimal supervision. The employee must be able to use good judgment in making decisions, exhibit a good working relationship with people, and be highly dependable in planning, implementing, and reporting activities. Individual must be able to relate to disadvantaged rural/urban people as well as professionals. A valid driver’s license is required. Individual will work with program leaders and other staff in short-term and long-term planning to develop statewide initiative plans which reflect the program needs and priorities for the counties, as well as the state and federal commitments. Individual will also provide leadership for development and successful operation of an overall regional partnering structure or advisory body that allows for program input, development, and evaluation. Overnight in-state and out-of-state travel is required.
