The Nutrition Coordinator-Central Region is responsible for the administration and implementation of nutrition initiatives in LCFB’s central region, including policy, system, and environmental (PSE) changes and direct education with partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Coordination and Management :
Coordinates and manages nutrition programming, including outreach events, partner coaching, and direct and indirect education. Plans and submits a monthly nutrition activity report. Manages supplies, materials, and storage for nutrition activities. Purchases food necessary for nutrition education activities. Prepares food for nutrition programming and recipe sampling for outreach events.
Data Collection:
Oversees surveys, evaluations, and data collection for all SNAP-Education activities in target region, in partnership with Program Impact Coordinator. Captures pre- and post-surveys for all course participants. Assists in the collection of the Education and Administration Reporting System (EARS) data for course and tour participants, as well as additional data that may be required. Maintains required paperwork, receipts, and documentation for volunteer and program activities. Provides technical assistance and site monitoring to ensure effectiveness of nutrition program.
Education :
Delivers nutrition education programs to SNAP eligible participants, teaching cooking and nutrition lessons as needed. Trains partners and volunteers regarding evaluation, methods, protocol, and procedures.
Volunteers:
Works with Director of Community Health & Nutrition to recruit, train, and manage volunteers to conduct nutrition activities.
Community Networking and Outreach :
Works with partner agencies to recruit and manage volunteers to conduct nutrition education. Advises community coalitions for approved locations, providing nutrition recommendations and strategies for PSE changes. Conducts site visits to support education programming and PSE work.
Team Support:
Works collaboratively with the Nutrition team to strategize, meet goals, and support group projects. Work with Nutrition Team to implement BeWell annual plan. Collaborates with Agency Relations team to identify partner agencies for nutrition education and support PSE changes within partner agencies. Conducts site monitoring visit for 1-3 CACFP & SFSP partners in tri-county region.
Travel:
Travel to approved locations within the service area to implement nutrition program activities, approximately 60% of the time. Travel to other approved local and state meetings and regional food bank facilities, as well as overnight professional development opportunities, approximately 10% of the time. All other duties as assigned, with or without notice. Job Requirements Required Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experience A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Dietetics, Public Health, Health Education) is required. Additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum two years relevant work experience in nutrition, community health, human services, and/or customer service preferred. Proven experience with nutrition education instruction. Basic cooking knowledge and skills; basic food handling knowledge or ability to learn about food handling Proficiency with MS Office software including Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to complete ServSafe food safety certification will be required. Preferred Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experience Non-profit and or social services work experience preferred. Resourceful and creative in approach to research and problem solving. Proven experience in developing project plans from initial idea to full implementation, including necessary follow-up. Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on task producing accurate work. Experience in data management. Strong customer service focus with experience managing volunteers. Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively to diverse groups. Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as one-on-one with class participants. Good organizational and time management skills. Physical Demands Ability to work flexible hours; expected to attend special events, some of which may occur in the evenings or on weekends. Reliable transportation to travel to sites within the service area required as well as occasional travel within the greater ten-county service area and statewide meetings. (Mileage will be reimbursed) Some travel and periodic participation in conferences and meetings are required. Ability to lift 30-50 lbs.
