Position Summary:

The Sepsis Program Coordinator (SPC) collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to provide care for septic patients and provides clinical and professional expertise to focus on health promotion and disease prevention. The SPC is responsible for the development and maintenance of the quality of care delivered to patients and provides education and clinical expertise to care team, patients, and families.

Qualifications Education:

Associates degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a registered nurse required.
A minimum one (1) year experience as a registered nurse in critical care required.
Prior sepsis program leadership/coordination preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina in good standing (SCLLR) required.
Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification required.
ACLS certification required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The SPC will work to collect data by reviewing and auditing patient charts, looking for trends and creating Key Performance Indicators for tracking and training purposes.
Collaborates with physicians and staff in an effort to decrease mortality, readmissions, and length of stay. Provides coordination, planning and evaluation or the operations of the programs and ensure implementation of processes that includes collaboration with physicians, nurses and other hospital clinicians as needed.
Collaborates with hospital educators to develop and implement sepsis focused education and leads the development of patient care protocols. Establishes and fosters collaborative relationships with physicians and clinicians in the care of the and sepsis patients and their family.
Actively seeks program improvements and best practices.

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with nursing colleagues, physicians, department heads, and member of executive leadership required.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Explorer and PowerPoint required.

Knowledge of nursing theory and practice required.
Stronganizational skills required.
